We followed the manufacturer's directions for cleaning and resurfacing our deck meticulously, and at first were very pleased with the results. The stain on the vertical portions of the deck looked good and matched the resurfacer on the horizontal surfaces perfectly. The deck looked fresh, clean and new. Within three months, however, the resurfaced deck had begun to peel, leaving a deck that looks worse than before. I would not recommend this product under any circumstances; we spent a good deal of money with poor long-term results.

If I could give this product a ZERO I would. Last Summer we purchased this product with great expectation AND GREAT EXPENSE. Whatever they say it will cover, double it. It was hard going on (we had beautiful weather) and within a week everywhere the house dripped water onto the deck it flaked off. We went back to Home Depot and I do have to say the store manager was very good about it. They sent out an expert to assess the problem and told us to sand down the area where it came off and repaint. Plus they gave us a free 1 gal. can and roller. My husband sanded down the area and I repainted. I will say it looked beautiful. We thought that was that. Problem solved.WELLLL... within 2, count them 2 months it was a DISASTER!!!!!!!! Not only had the bad area returned but now the WHOLE DECK IS FLAKING OFF!!! And I mean flaking. It's just cracking and disintegrating into dust like sand. It is now March and we are waiting for the snow to all melt to deal with this. I don't blame Home Depot but this product it horrible (except for whoever suggested stocking it and recommending it). We had both sanded new and old wood on the deck all meticulously prepped the way it required and now at 59 I have to get down on my hands and knees and sand all this mess off and start again WITH ANOTHER PRODUCT (though most of it can be swept away with a broom. DO NOT... DO NOT... DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT. This product needs to be pulled from the market. I just hope the manager is a friendly this time as he was last summer.

Used on a shaded porch, easy to apply. Great coverage with 2 coats. Looked good with one til it dried, 2 made a big difference. The wood was starting to split, and would become slimey from the wet, and shade. No slipping on this. Survived the snow, and shoveled with a plastic shovel. Would like to put another coat this year, just for good measure. I have a 65'x35' deck I would like to use on in the future, this one bakes in the sun, and is hard to keep stained. I will update when I see how this goes.

I couldn't even finish putting this on the deck. Used an entire gallon on a small portion of a very large deck. Had to give up because it was so hard to work with. The consistency is like sludge. I used the roller that is recommended and it splattered everywhere and the coverage was so poor I had to go over the area with a brush to get consistent coverage. Decided to let it dry and simply start over with a regular solid deck stain.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by arthuro DON'T USE THIS
Only use this if you are completely desperate and don't want to put new decking in. If you have a large area, without any corners or walls, it may work, maybe on a barn 20 miles from your house. But not on anything near your house because it is a mess! It doesn't go on smoothly and regularly and you'll have to use lots of it. Try spreading mud on a smooth surface.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Allen Difficult to apply
if your deck is old for the first coat use a flat applicator & a very stiff bristle brush (stiffest you can find to go between boards). by using the flat applicator it will spread the material easier. then use the roller to spread the 2nd coat.

Previous reviewer was right. It is like sludge or Drylok for basements .Need to use a squeegie? Wonder if it will stay cool like cool deck?
