Product Overview

Rust-Oleum RockSolid 70 oz. Metallic Gunmetal Garage Floor Kit offers unsurpassed durability. Made with a unique Polycuramine formula that is 20 times stronger than epoxy. Resistant to salt, oil, gas and other harsh chemicals, this is one of the toughest floor coatings available. Product formula is perfectly suited for high traffic areas like garages and workshops but still safe enough to be used in other interior spaces like basements, laundry rooms and family rooms. Zero VOC's and a low odor make it a great choice for almost any indoor application. Easy to maintain, lasts a lifetime while still looking fantastic.

Customer Questions & Answers

Is the description correct in regards to square footage? Would it take 4 of these kits to complete a standard 2 car garage?

Asked by: Brian
No, not at all - one kit covers only about 60-70 square feet. The packaging text is incorrect.

I have a floor 30'x 40' can one box be enough?

Asked by: Billy
The coverage stated on the box is fantasy. It took 8 boxes to do our 2-car garage, and it turned out looking terrible from air bubbles and comet tails appearing while the product cured.

What is all included in the kit? and how many kits do I need for 25x25 garage?

Asked by: Tannerdelorey
Critic acid etching concentrate, metallic flake power, mesh roller (don't use it - it sheds and clumps up in the epoxy), and 1 pouch of polycuramine. Expect to use twice as many boxes as stated for square area coverage - the product is very transparent and if you don't lay it on thick enough or use two coats you can see right through it.

I found that the material is a lot harder to move around with a roller than the video showed. You really have to work the product for a while to cover the floor. Also, while they say each package will cover 100-125 sq. ft. I got less coverage than that. I started with 7 boxes to cover approx. 800 sq. feet and had to run in the middle of the process to get 3 additional boxes to finish the job. I wasn't putting it on very thick either. Over all I do like the finished look right now, but for the price of each package, a little more floor coating would've been nice. I also think using a squeegee to move the epoxy around may have been easier than the roller.

It might spread further with a squeegee trowel http://www.homedepot.com/p/Kraft-Tool-Co-18-in-Squeegee-Trowel-GG244/205323271 but the end look will likely lack depth as expensive as it is, this sounds like a crazy suggestion, but in the end it may be worth doing a test run if one has never used it before if it weren't for the high cost to coverage, I would highly recommend rocksolid. I found it to be a great product

To get the product to look like the pictures/videos that Rust-oleum shows requires twice as much. Per Rust-oleum's calculations, my garage floor needed 6 kits. I purchased 10 just in case and ended up using all 10, but the floors still weren't fully covered as they advertised. Also, the floors are easily scratched, a few areas chipped, and worst of all, bubbles started forming overnight. I had roughly 10 or so bubbles with the biggest one being larger than the size of a quarter. Now that it's popped, there's a large circle on my floor. Everyone that initially sees it tells me they thought a quarter fell on the floor. I spent over $2,000 and I'm disappointed. I reached out to Rust-oleum about it and sent them a few pictures. They have not responded.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great flooring Just used this product in a laundry room. Looks great and very economical compared to other flooring options. Installation comments: do not use drill to mix, mix by hand. The drill & paddle incorporate air bubbles. Take the roller & throw it away. We used 10" putty knife and it spread the product out smoothly, quickly, & did not need a brush to cut in corners & edges. What an amazingly beautiful floor.

We just completed the project last night but was easy to work with. Can't stress how important it is to make sure area is clean! In this large of an area we had 4 people working . One mixing, one trim, one spreading and one making design. Please see before and after picx

The final look of the project turned out exactly the way I was expecting it to look.i highly recommend that you buy 4 boxes for car garage space. So if you have a two car garage, purchase 8 boxes. It's best to buy more than less. You can always return what you don't use and get a full refund.
