Customer Questions & Answers

Can this trimmer be used as an edger as well?

Asked by: Matt
Thank you for asking, Matt. Since this string trimmer power head is attachment capable and is compatible with Ryobi Expand-It attachments, please feel free to use an edger attachment with it. You can find a great edger (model RYEDG12) at Home Depot. I hope this helps and we appreciate your interest in Ryobi! -Keri

How to get more string out while trimming

Ok this is probably a really stupid question but after trimming for a while the string starts to shorten. Is there an easy way to get more string out without having to dismantle the bottom and feed more through and restart? Thanks, Matt
Asked by: Matt
Just tap the trimmer on the ground with motor at high speed.

25 cc 2-Cycle Full Crank Curved Shaft Gas String Trimmer is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 509.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from weed eater Theres nothing wrong with this weed eater ,just purchased one yesterday ,used it today works fine. This weed eater is good for home use ,enough power to tackle NORMAL grass cutting use ,some people gave it a bad review ,now it probaly wont last long if you are trying to cut 50 yards a day ,CONCLUSION best weed eater for the price ,you should get years of use out of this product with NORMAL USE ,not cutting down small trees , or briar bush pach or forest and 50 yards a week ,but Ryobi makes special attachements for SOME of those jobs .I do recommend this product for home owners and for the NORMAL use of trimming there lawn

Used it a couple of times and so far, so good. It starts right up and it runs smooth. The jury is still out on how long it will last.

Anyway, the one we purchased lacked power, vibrated horribly, is rather heavy, didn't feed line properly with the bump feature and on first use, the trimmer head overheated, causing the retaining nut to bore it's way into the plastic housing. At least Home Depot took it back without a hassle, but save yourself the time.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from poor treamer head design. I like ryobi products, but I always have uses when I need to replace the weed eater string. the stupid head will not come off!!! I always have to exchange that part of it, the screw in string head always slips when I try to remove the head.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Ryobi products are junk Ryobi products are junkI bought this Ryobi trimmer. It broke within 6 months. The Ryobi warranty is a joke and Home Depot won't stand behind this product! Don't buy unless you like wasting money .

HOWEVER, I had to return the initial purchase as it was a RE-STOCK which was sold at the full price. It was obvious from the moment I opened the box! It was not even packed properly and missing the gas addititive and the gas tanked smelt like it had held fuel. I shop at the Home Depot store a LOT, and it is a 40 mile round trip to boot! The return desk was efficient enough, but I had to go and pull a new one from the back of the shelf, removed 3 other boxes that looked like they had been opened and hump it back to the returns desk. There was no apology for selling me a restock, just a straight exchange. HUGELY DISAPPOINTED with HD and having second thought s about shopping there again.

The buttery fly nut on the handle fell off and the coupling to the trimmer attachment broke. The string was getting used pretty fast. Was a powerful trimmer, but did not edge well as the string would get chewed away. I'm returning it to Home Depot

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worst purchase ever Brought it home and it started terrible. The engine would run slow and would die when I got the motor going. The next day it took me ten minutes to start. I used it, turned it off for literally 5 minutes and it never started again. String comes out terrible. This is truly a price of junk. Zero stars
