The pulsating green LED, along with the steadily glowing red LED, indicate normal charging is occurring. When charging is complete the red LED will turn off and the green LED will flash to indicate the charger is in maintenance mode, when the charging current is greatly reduced. That's when charging is complete. Eventually the charger will go into energy saving mode, when the charging current is turned Read More

Answer:
The dual chemistry means that this charger will charge both Ni-Cad and Lithium-Ion Batteries. Ryobi made a Ni-Cad battery that is an Orange-Yellow color prior to the Lithium-Ion that has the grey or green colors. This Orange-Yellow battery and the other batteries can be charged on the dual chemistry charger.

I can't answer as to will it work or how well it will work... Will the charger work properly, will it overheat, will it go into battery saver mode when the battery has completed its charge cycle.
You won't see a Ryobi name anywhere on any of these after market batteries, they are not a Ryobi product. Good Luck. Read Less

Hello there packyjean, unfortunately you can not charge a lithium battery on a nicad, charger. If you have both lithium and nicad, batteries you may want to consider getting yourself the new dual lithium/Nicad charger which will do both. Hope this helps you, and good luck.

No...
The original Ni-Cad chargers are only for Ni-Cads and do not offer the dual-chemistry charging as the newer chargers offer. But on the other hand the new dual-chemistry chargers will charge the Ni-Cads.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Ehh OK I've had this for a few months now. My original charger died so I got this one. 30 minutes charge ok but the battery doesn't last but just as long. I have new batteries so that isn't the issue. I want my old charger back, it may take longer but its a good charge lasting for hours, days. Like most industries, put out a good product then put out junk to increase the bottom line. Go to something else is my thought. August 27, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Brought my tools back to life! After going through several NiCad batteries over the years, I decided to upgrade to Li-Ion. Well worth it. August 28, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Needed for multi-battery charging Have several Ryobi tools and needed extra charger when working with several tools. Good value. August 24, 2016

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Works Good - But 30 Minutes Must Be For Smaller Batteries? Happy with charger but I'm guessing 30 minutes must be for regular size batteries, not the high-capacity ones I purchased. Takes about 2 hours, which is still great. No complaints :-) July 30, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by ample stock at the store Purchased new batteries as an upgrade for my drill. The batteries are great but at the time I did not realize I also needed a new charger so had to go back to the store for the charger. The price was reasonable and the stock ample. July 26, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great charger... Did not take much time to charge up a new battery. July 20, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Ryobi Charger So far, so good. The charger works. I would certainly buy it again depending on how long it works. July 12, 2016
