I cut quite a few branches with this pole saw and it did a great job. My primary issue with this saw and why I give it 2 stars is because of the manufacture stamping process of the serial number. As I used the saw quite a bit the serial number actually wore off. This should never happen. As such when the motor burned out, since no serial number was visible anymore Home Depot stated it was a refurbished unit and now out of warranty. I bought this unit new. It would cost $93 to repair the saw.
So, saw works great when it works, but it obviously isn't durable enough to last and the serial number can wear off.

I already have several Ryobi tools and batteries, so I have plenty of their large batteries.
This saw assembled very quickly, and has a robust 9' pole, with the extra 3' extension.
I was pruning branches up to 4" in diameter. With the very sharp cutting chain, I just rested the saw on the top of the branch and let it cut through. The advantage over a gas saw is that as you are climbing ladders and getting into position, the engine isn't running. When you get ready, just pull the trigger.
The 4 Ah battery lasted quite a long time.
I only have a single issue with it ... the bar oil slowly leaks out of the reservoir when storing the saw. I've tried hanging it vertically, horizontally, ... now I'm trying horizontally and upside down; assuming that it's coming out the chain-oiler hole at the bottom of the reservoir.

This Ryobi Pole Saw works great! It cut much larger limbs than I expected. The reason I didn't give it 5 stars was due to the initial impression of the item. It came in a generic white box, not a Ryobi box. It was also a little dirty, as if it was re-manufactured or used. I didn't want to go through the hassle of exchanging it if it worked, so I tested it out and it worked just fine.
It is a little heavy when fully extended with the additional pole.

ONE+ 9.5 ft.18-Volt Lithium-ion Cordless Pole Saw
This is a handy tool, I was surprised at how well it performed.
It cut through large branches with ease. Being cordless I am able prune the trees growing out over my four tenths of a mile long private road. I had a corded electric saw and was limited, but not with this great tool!
This makes a great addition to my 18 volt ONE+ tool collection.
The battery life was very good, I pruned 6 trees and cut down four 4 inch wide trees grown in the fence line and still had power to spare.
This sure beats a manual or corded electric pole saw.

I rarely do reviews, but this is one extraordinary tool. Everyone who has tried it said they wanted one. Who would have ever thought that cutting branches could be fun? It tackled some jobs professionals would have wanted to stay away from. The one and only time it got hung up, which was may fault, caused a few minor damages, which were easily fixed by this un-mechanical person. Seems like parts are easy to find too, if need be.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Mark It does what it promises to do...Well
I would have been pleased if it had proven serviceable and clawed its way through a couple 3 or 4 inch branches. It cuts cleanly and quickly. way past 3 or 4 inchers and I never flattened the battery . I am amazed (as I frequently am with Ryobi) at just how well this thing works! Good power, a relatively aggressive chain and much more battery life than I would of thought. That two piece pole is genius and allows much better control on lower cuts.
Remember that its a pruning saw and I can't imagine that you'll be disappointed.

After following instructions to the letter, the pole saw failed on THE THIRD BRANCH (less than an inch in diameter). Easy work for a product like this normally, in this case the drive disengaged from the part that spins the saw. So sad. I spent an hour trying to fix it, then went back to my ladder and clippers. I love Ryobi, and have many of their tools and batteries. However, this one was a loser :(
