Safer Brand 16 oz. Concentrate Insect Killing Soap kills a variety of insect pests including aphids, whiteflies and mealybugs. Safer Brand Insect Killing Soap utilizes the power of potassium salts of fatty acids to weaken the insect's waxy protective outer shell. Apply every 7-10 days when insects are present or as needed to prevent further damage. This 16 fl. oz. container will make 6 gal of protection for your garden. Since Safer Brand insect killing soap is a contact killer, several applications may be needed for full control. As a general rule, much like watering, do not use these products in the peak of the day or when temperatures exceed 90 degrees F to avoid wilting or browning of the leaves. It breaks down into their natural elements within 7-10 days and will not persist in the environment.

  • 16 fl. Oz. concentrate- makes up to 6 gal.
  • Contains potassium salts of fatty acids (49.52%)
  • Targets and kills aphids, earwigs, grasshoppers, harlequin bugs, leafhoppers, mealy bugs, mites, plant bugs, psyllids, sawfly larvae, soft scales, spider mites, and whiteflies
  • Can be used up until the day of harvest
  • OMRI Listed and compliant for use in organic gardening
  • Will not persist in the environment
  • No residual impact on the environment

Answer:
The product is highly concentrated, with recommended mix ratio of 2 1/2 ounces per gallon. Since you asked about a 16 oz volume that would be 1/8th of a gallon amount, or 5/16th of an ounce. I think it would be easier to mix 1 gallon at a time...I used a 1-gallon milk jug and measured out 2 1/2 ounces. I cleaned and marked "Insect Soap" on the jug with a felt pen...this stuff looks like milk when mixed! Read More

16 oz. Insect Killing Soap Concentrate is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 44.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Quality Product I purchased Safer for a commercial interior landscape company that I work for. We typically try to stay away from using pesticides so Safer is a great product for us. Safer is really good at controlling foliage based insects such as mealy bugs, the only down side is it has an odor that some may find offensive. The concentrate is a good value compared to the premixed ready to use bottles, if the label is followed you should get almost 6.5 gallons out of one bottle. If you're looking for a non-chemical control of insects then Safer is what I would recommend.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Deceptively smaller without instructions Had to special order. Picked it up to discover that packaging/bottle in photo leads one to believe that it is much larger. This bottle is 'mini' size. Took it home to discover the peel back instruction aren't actually included. Product on the plants better work because Safer brand is off to a poor start and impression.
