There was also no benefit to the downdraft vent either, but the Jenn-Air had been bought 18 years ago to replace the original range when my home was custom-built. The Jenn-Air was thankfully under maintenance contract, thank goodness, because the plastic front controls malfunctioned many times and were replaced at great cost. Thanks for the question. While the NX58H9500WS does require both gas and electrical connections, it is not considered "dual fuel". The electrical supply is limited to 120V/60 Hz/20-amp to power the convection fan, warming drawer and control panel. Both the cook top and the oven use gas to heat.

Vent Always On

The vent on my range is always on during any bake cycle. It is a "motorized" blower type fan that yes I understand it allows for air exchange, but is it designed to be always on while any oven setting is selected? This is not the convection fan (which hardly makes any noise and is as expected). The vent blower doesn't appear to make excessive mechanical noise, what makes the noise is the constant sound of fast rushing air. Please advise.

I disagree with Mrs. Samsung's answer. There most definitely is a powered cooling fan, in addition to the convection fan, in both this and the Chef Collection models of this slide-in gas range. While the cooling vent is mentioned in the User Manual, the cooling fan is not. The cooling fan is mentioned in the "Start Guide" which comes with the range, and states: "5) Do not unplug during the operation of cooling fan. Even though the cooking/self-cleaning is over, the cooling fan can be operated till the cavity is cooled down. In this case, do not pull the plug out for the protection of components in the oven." Running across nearly the entire width at the top rear of the range is a cast iron vent grate, also not mentioned in the manual, that covers three vent openings. The center opening is the oven/broiler vent, which vents combustion gasses and food odors/smoke during oven/broiler operation, and gets extremely hot. The right opening appears to be a non-fan powered vent of some sort and could even be an air intake. The left opening is the fan powered cooling vent, and the squirrel cage type fan can be seen if you lean in and look down the vent. As others have noted, the cooling fan comes on by itself once the oven reaches a set temperature and automatically shuts off when the oven cools to a set point. The other night after baking dinner at 350 degrees, the fan ran for about 5 - 10 minutes after the bake burner was turned off. The fan is quite quiet and will be drowned out by noise from your exhaust hood or OTR microwave exhaust fan. If the kitchen is quiet with no competing fans, you will hear the cooling fan but is tolerable for the short period it stays on. Read Less

I just purchased the Samsung NX58H9500WS Slide-in Gas Range and I'm preparing for the installation. Is there an installation manual? Does it require 208v or 110v service? Plug in or hardwired? Current requirements (amps)? Gas connected to shut off using standard fittings? A diagram?
Any information would be helpful. I've got a plumber and electrician coming soon. Thanks.

Rated 4.7 out of 5 by 178 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Buy this stove! Better than the over-priced pro ranges We are a family of cooks. Way back when we purchased a Dynasty range, one of the first professional ranges for home owners. Have bought several professional ranges and this one puts them to shame for 1/4 of the price. The burner configuration and output are perfect. The convection stove is consistent in both roasting and baking. The wok ring is fabulous. It is super easy to use and clean. Yes the top is stainless and will scratch, but at least you get it clean - love barkeepers friend! I love the fact that the knobs and controls are on the front so you have more room in the back for big pots. Also heat from the burners won't start to interfere with the controls on the back (happened on a Frigidaire we owned for less than a year and half). I would buy this stove again over Wolf, Dynasty, or Viking (have owned all three). The minor things I don't really like: 1. The included grill pan is a little narrow 2. The included temperature probe is a little too intuitive, meaning if it reaches temperature it will turn off the oven. This sounds great, right? Well not if is reading the temperature wrong (i.e., you hit a bone). There may be a way to disable the 'turn off the stove' feature, but we haven't looked. This isn't something that irritates me but once you turn off the oven, the stove will go into cool down mode so it is a little noisy. Doesn't bother me but just be aware. January 31, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Very pleased so far! Had a little trouble with the first delivery. Stove was damaged either in shipping or manufacturing. Called HD -> GE -> Samsung and the representative was very nice. Asked if I wanted a replacement or have them take some off the price. Opted to have a replacement, which they delivered the following Saturday. Have used the stove for about a month now and am very pleased with the operation, the features, how it looks in our kitchen, and with the quality for the most part. We purchased this model on sale, which made it about half the cost of a comparable unit from GE. Would definitely recommend this model! March 30, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by like the looks, but lots of problems The Oven failed but the Home Depot extended protection plan was super. I have had this range for about a year. After six months the oven cooling fan would not shut off. A tech had to come out a couple of time to get it fixed-- all covered, but inconvenient. A month ago, after broiler was on for a while the electronic screen went black, meaning I could not turn on the oven. A tech came out to take a look- the electrical components to the oven and broiler fried and the part needed was on back order. Today I received a gift card for the value of the oven, because apparently they don't make parts for ovens that are a year old! So I am staying away from this brand. Maybe I just had a lemon, but I am glad I had the protection plan. March 30, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by LOVE IT SO FAR! LOVE THIS SO FAR! IT'S GORGEOUS! I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THE WAY IT LOOKS IN MY SPACE! LOOKS VERY DURABLE AND HIGH QUALITY. December 8, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Top of the Line Gas Range! Purchased the unit on sale for $1896.00 during Memorial Day. Excellent quality, gorgeous finish, high-end quality. Best digital display and programming I've found. Upgraded from an electric glass top to this. Hope the quality and finish lasts a long, long time! October 23, 2015
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by beaurtiful stove I love the stove the only thing I don't like is that you cannot control the amount of the flame. I cook a lot and had a viking stove that I manually controlled how hot I wanted the flame. The low on this is not low if you do not watch the pot you will burn whatever you are cooking. It easy to clean, but I wish I would have been able to see how it worked before hand, if so I would not have brought it. Otherwise its a really nice stove, February 29, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Outstanding purchase Love, love, love this range! Beware, it has a lot of power so medium-heat on the stove top is really more like low. Cook baked goods about one to two minutes less than the recipe calls for. The meat thermometer is an awesome option. If you're only cooking meat, this option is cool because the oven automatically shuts off when the meat reaches the programmed temperature. Haven't used the warming drawer yet, but am looking forward to it. It takes 25 minutes for the warming drawer to heat up, so know that going in. Haven't used the wok attachment either, but will soon. This range looks far more expensive than it is. It is really slick. Highly recommend purchasing this range. April 23, 2015
