According to Southwire, this cable is rated at 155 Amps for direct burial and 115 Amps in ducts. You state that this wire is rated at 90 Amps when used to supply a detached garage underground to a sub-panel. Is Southwire incorrect?
Asked by: Robottechman
According to limitations set forth by National Electric Code guidelines, the cable is required to have overcurrent protection (breaker or fuses) at 90 Amperes or less.

What size wire do I need to run from pole to 200 amp service 350'

Asked by: john
you would need 2 conductors per phase utilizing a #750 Aluminum conductor will limit the voltage drop to 2.76% or less when supplying 200.0 amps for 350 feet on a 120 volt system. The above advice is based upon the current edition of the National Electric Code (NEC). Free access to the latest version of the NEC is available online at www.nfpa.org/freeaccess. The NEC and local building codes regulate the types of wire and cable that can be used in specific electrical applications, as well as the manner of installation. Check your local building codes before you start any wiring and cable electrical project and be sure to obtain required permits. When your work is complete, always have it inspected for compliance with local codes to ensure that it has been safely installed.

500 ft. 2-2-2-4 Stranded AL URD Dyke Wire is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 5.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Did the trick! I think this stuff is certified for direct bury but I put it in 1 1/4 inch PVC conduit from my house to a sub panel in the barn/shop. Note: you would have a tough time pulling this wire through anything but a straight run. I therefore put the PVC bends and fittings on the wire and glued them in their final position after dry fitting the entire 150 feet run. The whole project turned out great. I burried the cable 2 feet deep and re-routed from the path of the original wiring which was in the same trench and along side the water supply line (not my work). The previous install was grossly inadequate and dangerous. Shipping time was reasonable, price was right, and I feel that I got my money's worth. This wire is good for its intended purpose and I would recommend it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid Wire. Super Fast Shipping. Super fast shipping. When I ordered, the delivery time was 2-3 weeks. Received the wire within 3 days. It arrived so fast that I overlooked it sitting in front of the house for an entire day (wasn't expecting it that fast)! I think I ordered on a Monday night and it was at my home by Thursday. Used this wire to power a sub-panel for a detached office off of the main dwelling. Needed 240v. Wire provided two hots (both 2awg), one neutral (2awg), and one ground (4awg). Running it on a 70amp breaker on the main panel. Great wire. Great price (cheaper than running the direct burial copper option, even when using conduit).

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good quality for the price The spool is sturdy. I had to drop it out of my truck at the job site but it held up well. The wire comes off the spool easily and the wire covering is not chaffing against the obstacles we have to thread through.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exactly What i Wanted Great wire Good Price. Ordered it for the sub panel in my garage. I recommend if placing this wire through PVC conduit to go bigger then 1-1/4 inch though.
