How is this hoist operated ?

How is this hoist operated ? Is it electric ? Is it easy to operate and is there an instruction manual?
Asked by: fernman
The hoist is manually operated: per the manual Pull the hand chain and raise the load and to lower the load, use the hand chain. If you would like a copy of the manual please contact customer service at 800-568-6657 and a representative will be happy to get you a copy. Thank you.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from ONE GREAT HOIST FOR MY SHOP I bought one of these hoists to raise my McLane reel lawnmower up to a steel welding table in my shop so it's easier to work on. I sharpen the blades at least once a year and it is really inconvenient to try and do it on the floor. The mower weighs about 140 pounds and at 72 y/o, I decided it was time to quit lifting the thing by hand (and back). I made a frame out of unistrut and with a trolley, I can hoist the mower and slide it over to the table with no effort at all. The hoist works great and is simple to use. The only thing that makes me mad is the fact that I didn't buy it 20 years ago.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well worth the money. The hoist worked super for lifting my very, very heavy three horse hit and miss gas engine while I made a new truck ( four wheel cart ) to move it around on. The hoist operated very smoothly both raising and lowering that heavy load. I would recommend this to any sportsmen or do it your self folks.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Poor chain quality, hoist itself works The hoist worked fine for light stuff, but when I tried to lift a 500lb milling attachment the smaller hoist chain broke. The chain was as strong as it's weakest link, literally. Shouldn't be a problem to get some high quality same size chain to replace. The hoist did not allow the load to drop and I was able to operate the pully by hand to release the load. I suppose it could have simply been one weak link. I inspected the larger chain and it seems fine.
