Can this tone live networks?

Can this tone live networks? need to know asap, thanks
Asked by: terren272
It wasn't specifically designed to, but supposedly it can according to our network engineer. I haven't tried it myself and I am skeptical it will be suitable for a live network. I bought the bullet and bought a Fluke Intellitone Pro 200 as I got tired of running into situations of not being able to trace a live network cable from a device over to a switchport. Besides, the Fluke can test all wires in an Ethernet cable and double as being absolutely sure that is indeed the cable you're looking for.

What is the minimum distance in which you can be away from the cables to be able to detect them?

Will this trace dead power lines?

I have a need to trace disconnected power lines from the circuit box to a remote J-box. Can this unit do that? Also can i detect the line mid run without exposing the copper?
