Answer:
Yes. The picture on the box is different from what you receive. I called Step2 and they said it was an old picture from 2002. There is an area for numbers on both. You also might need to call Step2 to receive more numbers as I did not have enough #7. They were sent out with in a week.

Answer:
You need to purchase the 4x4 post separately. Should be minimum 4ft length - 2 ft in the ground and 2 ft in the mailbox assembly.

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.3 out of 5 by 194 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Looks good The thin plastic piece that covers the post on the back side was broken on one end when I opened the box. Not worth the hassle of returning it. I scored the plastic and broke it off square, it's about 1" shorter than it should be, but it's not a big deal. Compared to digging a 2 ft deep hole and setting a post, the actual mailbox installation was a breeze and took all of about 10 minutes. It twists a little bit side-to- side because it doesn't fit tight around the post. I put a couple shims in between the post and the plastic to stiffen it up. Looks good and seems like it should last a long time. September 15, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Third time purchasing exact same mailbox (they deteriorate over time). Easy to install because I already had the post from my previous two Step 2 mailboxes. All I had to do was unscrew the two bolts and slide the new mailbox into place and rescrew the two bolts. Will continue to buy this mailbox, only wish they lasted longer. September 13, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Love it. Have had one before, this was a replacement. Love it, for convenience, appearance and $value. Just be sure to have a full 2 ft of post in the ground preferably in concrete. February 24, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great product. This is my second time to purchase it. Nice heavy duty mailbox. I bought this 10 years ago and it withstood the rigors of being on a major street through way. I'm moving to a new home and decided to buy the same model since it was so sturdy. August 12, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nice Mailbox It was easy to assemble and install. It is a three piece unit, the box, post mount and post cover. The post cover could have been bigger to cover better, but it looks fine since it is on the rear. The heat of the sun was needed to close the rear newspaper door. It only took 15 minutes to take off the old mailbox, straighten the post and install the new box. Good quality plastic and should last for many years. August 9, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Step2 stone gray plus mailbox I replaced an older step 2 mail box and this worked in half the time just attaching to the post. Very satisfied. July 26, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Mailbox looks good. Used an aluminum post and stainless steel screws as suggested in a review I read. Used quick set cement and a level to get post straight. A little disappointed in the color. Looks more tan than gray, but overall I am well satisfied. May 31, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Well worth the price I'm a 62.5 y.o. woman and I had no problem putting this mailbox together myself, so don't let the "two people are needed" clause scare you off. This mailbox is sturdy and appears rugged. The only reason for 4 star quality instead of 5 is due to the way it attaches to the post. The back post cover is just for show, so the mailbox really attaches only on the front of the post. I dug a 30" hole (that was a challenge, but I managed) and used 3 bags of cement to secure the 30" post in the ground. The rest was fairly easy. March 13, 2016
