Customer Questions & Answers

Is the shelf spacing sufficient to store champagne bottles?

Asked by: ccl13
NO. You have to remove a shelf for large bottles to fit. I wouldnt recommend this unit. Its been very problematic and I only got 4 years use. Cannot be repaired. DOnt buy Summit stuff.

What is the height & depth? Is it single or fual zone?
Asked by: Bernie
It is about 15" wide and 24" deep I think. Please don't waste your money on this wine fridge. It died on me and was nothing but trouble while it "worked." You won't be able to find anyone to service it, and you won't be able to reach Summit if you have any problems. Stay away from this product and company!

Could you use this for beer i.e. What are the settings?

Asked by: Kat
You could certainly use it for beer, but only if you like warm beer, because this fridge is horrible and died on us. Summit is near impossible to reach by phone or email, and you can't find a service provider who can work on it. Please don't waste your money. Ours is headed to a landfill. :(

From Day 1 this thing bounced around in temperature and haD many shutdowns. Under warranty, local tech couldn't find anything wrong. Back home ran for a few months then shuts down. Could always reboot by unplugging and replugging. Last time no luck. Back to tech, now 4 years old. Summit says its the control board. Sends new one to tech, wrong one. Then correct one arrives, and still no power. Now checking relays and wiring harnesses. Summit no longer helpful after selling a control board. Very aggravating experience. Wont buy Summit again.

This wine cooler died on us right after the warranty ran out, but before it died it never worked properly. The motor seemed to run loudly and haphazardly before it finally gave out. Attempts to have it repaired proved futile.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Buyer Beware Quit working after 3 years due an evaporator leak that had been going on for some time, had to be a manufacturing defect. Cost to repair was in excess of the price of a new one. Further parts were not readily available even if you wanted to repair it. Got nowhere with their customer service department. I have never experienced a worse run around as I got with them. I guess their mentality is that you will get frustrated with them and just go away. What a way to run a business. I would steer clear of Summit Appliance. The attached picture shows how bad the leak was.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful wine cellar Bought two of these units to install in a 30-inch wide former cabinet space. Dimensions were spot on. Had to change the door swing direction on one unit. It was pretty easy to do, but one step is left out of the instructions. I was able to figure it out eventually. These are sharp looking cellars. They have been operating for about 1 month with no issues. Some have complained about noise, but no different than any other compressor. I was able to get 5 bottles on one shelf, so theoretically 33 bottles will fit. But with the varying shapes and sizes of bottles, the actual capacity for me was 28 bottles.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Thought it was nice but then ... I bought a prior version of this fridge (same size and features). It worked well for about 3 years, although it occasionally turned off. We would just turn it back on. Then it stopped turning back on for more than 20 minutes or so. The likely diagnosis was a problem with the electronic "board." Nobody services Summit. The one repair company that did could not get any response from the people at Summit as to whether they make replacement boards. So the lesson is that you should assume that you unit will eventually break down and your recourse is to throw it away and buy a new one (not from Summit).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Summit - 33 Bottle Built-In Wine Cooler (15") I purchased this wine fridge to replace my in-law's old fridge and they absolutely love it. It looks great, has a great design, and was really easy to setup. Another good thing to note about this Summit fridge is that it comes with a 1 year warranty on everything and a 5 year warranty on the compressor (which is typically the first thing to break on appliances like this) so this appliance should last for years to come.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Too early to say for sure Have had the unit installed for about a week. Looks good and fit great into a space that used to have a trash compactor. Seems to run a lot. Hopefully it will stand the test of time and not break down. Some of the previous reviews have me concerned but I purchased the unit anyway since its dimensions were the best fit for my space. Also pourchased the extended warranty...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful, quet cooler We will soon be "empty nesters" and wanted to convert the teen room into an upscale entertaining area and convertible office. The small alcove at one end of our basement provided the perfect area for new built-in cabinetry with a wine fridge. Compliments to Summit for delivery where Danby was unable to ... three times! Summit packed the fridge carton (well-cushioned) in another outer box for shipping to give the added protection against usual bumps and dings from handling a 150lb item during transit. (I had to refuse shipment of a Danby three times because damage to the carton transferred major damage to the fridge.) The Summit cooler fit perfectly in the space, is quiet and keeps the exact temperature. Nice finally to have wine at the recommended "cellar" temperature! Delivery to the Home Depot store also was a plus, since I could not take any more time from work to wait for the trucking company. Pickup notification and instructions were very well communicated, seamless, and an associate helped me load it. The design complements perfectly the granite countertop, Home Depot Lyndhurst Cabernet cabinetry, and Brickweb Boston Mill thin brick to give the area a wine-cellar feel.
