Customer Questions & Answers

How long is the leader hose?

I'd like to keep this on my back deck, but the spigot on the back of the house is more than 6ft away.
Asked by: beadyreader
About 3 ft long. Reel needs to be pretty close the the spigot.

Will this accommodate a rubber heavy-duty 50 Ft. hose?

Asked by: Cher
I would think 50' would work. I have a 100' and it get tough to get the whole thing in there. I tend to pile 10-20' alongside of it.

Why the picture do not even show the leader hose to the box? as it is very important whether the leader hose can even reach the spigot on the wall.

Asked by: bill
It is long enough to reach both the reel and the faucet. The reel you can move where you need to

How do you attach the hose

Asked by: Misstip
All Suncast hose reels, including the CPLPPJ100DT hideaway hose reel will have the crank handle on the right side as you face the unit. The snap-together water parts (in-tube that carries water into the unit and outlet tube that carries water into the garden hose) will be on the opposite or left side as you face it. You attach the female threaded end of the short leader hose that comes with the product to the male threaded in-tube at the outside of the unit and on that left side. You attach the other end of the leader hose to your garden faucet. You attach your garden hose to the out-let tube found on the inside of the reel. These connections allow water from the faucet to flow through the leader hose, the in and out tubes and into your garden hose. The unit should come with paperwork that illustrates all this. As you stand at the right side by the crank, you will turn that crank in a clockwise manner to wrap your garden hose onto the center drum, guiding the garden hose back and forth so it wraps neatly. Thank you, Misstip, for your question and your interest in Suncast products.

100 ft. Hideaway Hose Reel is rated 2.4 out of 5 by 87.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from One of the poorest made products I've ever seen Cheap plastic that bends. The space between the reel ad the case is too large - your hose will get caught there and it's a pain to get ti out. This is literally the worst product I have ever purchased from Homey. Don;t be tempted by the price - it is not worth half of what they charge. JUNK, JUNK, JUNK

Rated 1 out of 5 by from They should be ashamed About $5 worth of lightweight materials in this poorly designed and constructed junk. Flimsy, wobbly and practically useless for its purpose. With a 75 foot hose it is a nightmare. Spent a half hour untangling a hose from its innards with my blood pressure hitting the roof. The Suncast hose reels are much better when securely attached to a wall with heavy duty toggles. The quality of many products is shameful these days and they are not that inexpensive. This is one of those products. Save yourself the anger and frustration. Select another model!

I just expecting it to come with a small attachment hose that would connect from the hose reel to the water line at home. typically they come with a 2' or 3' section. the other thing that I would have liked to see are anchors. we have very high winds in El Paso and generally anchor lighter objects like the hose reels.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from 100ft. hideaway hose reel I like the idea of the hose being hidden from view but it is difficult to turn the hose properly inside the small amount of space left to turn. The vinyl quality is not as strong as I prefer. As you move the hose case that the hose is in, the corners tend to give a little because of its lack of having a harder plastic material.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from piece of junk This product claims it can handle a 100 foot can barely fit a 50 footer. Box not high enough and drum ends not high enough to secure hose when no internal guide for hose to line up properly. Sorry I bought scarred up trying to untangle I guess I will have to eat it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worthless Reel can hardly hold a 50 ft hose. The sides of the reel are too low and too far away from the outer walls to stop the hose from falling off the reel and getting jammed inside the case. First time I loaded the hose I carefully rolled into onto the reel and it rubbed against the top of the case. When I tried to pull out some hose it immediately fell off the side of the reel and jammed. Had to lay the reel on its side and loop the hose back onto the reel and pull it out very slowly. This product is junk. I have used a lot of Suncast products over the years and always found them to be well made and user friendly. I am surprised by the poor design of this product.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from OK hose reel If you are looking for an economical hose reel this one is ok. It is kind of flimsy and could use a larger area to step on when rolling the hose in. I might opt for a more sturdy one in the future but this does get the job done.

Mine did not come close to fitting. Very difficult to dispense and retract the hose as the unit is too lite to be stable on the ground.
