Customer Questions & Answers

Can the Suncast shelves be added later? Do Do Suncast shelves have to be installed during shed assembly or is later OK?

Asked by: SuncastShelfEnvy
There are four built-in shelf support areas in the Suncast BMS2000 vertical shed. Notched grooves in the shed accept the Suncast wire metal shelves, model BMSA7S, sold at Home Depot, or build-from-scratch wood shelves (lumber not included). Drawings with dimensions for optional wood shelving begin on page 24 in the manual, available to review at either Home Depot or Suncast web sites for this model. Installation of the shelving concludes on page 25 in the manual. You can see all dimensions for this shed in a PDF at the Suncast website for this model. It is not necessary to add shelving at the time the shed it built; adding shelving later will be all right. Thanks for asking and for your interest in Suncast storage items.

I selected the box that had the least amount of outside damage. It annoys me that employees have so little respect for the customer and their employer, banging and crashing into boxes, denting and tearing them, leaving the customer to deal with the aftereffects of their carelessness. After unboxing I noticed a huge dent in the back section, on the outside. At this point what does one do when there's appearance damage? Put it back in the box, tape it up, and lug it back to the store, then deal with the exchange process only to perhaps get another damaged one? It's exasperating. I'm 72 years old and past the point of wanting to play musical sheds. So I'll just deal with it. In the meantime I'll wonder why Home Depot doesn't get rid of employees who don't care about how they treat the merchandise. As for the shed itself, where the instructions say 'tap with a mallet' you should read that to say 'bang with a dead blow hammer.' The roof took a lot of banging to lock it into the proper position. Another reviewer mentioned a tool After assembly, the unit rocks a bit on its base. This is on a dead flat floor. The doors take some effort to open and close. Light shines through from the outside here and there along the seams. I'm going to put a bead of silicone caulk along all of the joints. The slight instability will likely go away once items are loaded inside. All in all, the shed is simple to assemble and seems sturdy enough. It looks nice, once I get past the ugly damage on the back. After caulking I'm confident it'll be moisture resistant enough for my purposes. Perhaps the doors will get easier to open and close with use. In the end I think it's pretty good shed for the price. We're using ours to house our bird feeding supplies and extra propane tanks on the screened-in deck.

We decided to have the shed shipped to the local Home Depot as delivery was at least $50. Staff at Home Depot were helpful in helping my husband put it into the vehicle. The box was 6 feet long, and we were just barely able to get it into our Ford Escape with the back seats down. The box was resting on the divider between the two front seats. If you don't have a truck or SUV, you may need to have it delivered or obtain a vehicle that will hold the box. We bought this storage shed to put on our deck. It is good to keep items out of the rain and sun, and it makes the deck look more tidy. We like that it is not too wide so does not take up too much space. We bought two of the shelves to go with it and placed them on the top two shelf positions. This left a tall amount of space near the bottom to store taller items. You definitely do need at least two people to put it together. The step where you put on the back of the shed really requires two people to flex the back of the shed backwards to put the back into correct position on the floor of the shed. It took the two of us about 45 minutes to put the shed together. We have had it a week and are glad we bought it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Would return if possible Measurements wrong, measured for a specific space to fit and didn't because they didn't measure from exact top edges sticking out at tip top and very it was cut Trim it which wouldn't work, try melt it won't either, try kick it in space to fit and bust it which is stupid. So it's stuck on my front patio doing nothing and my hoa is demanding I move it or pay 100 a day now. How I return this dumb thing. And not weather proof buy a sealer like flexall and spray all the inside corners etc few layers probably keep water etc from getting in. It's cheap and flimsy. I don't recommend definitely would keep looking, if I seen this in person first and not online taking a chance would not of gotten it. Besides not fitting it's just cheap you can get better ones definitely.

I have it in my garage and my garden big tools are stored there. you can easily set it up for outside use with anchor. It's roomy enough to hold 7 stand up tools and a medium size draw storage unit for my smaller items. I would recommend this storage shed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great little storage shed Really nice shed. Well insulated too. I paid a handy man to put it together for me. He had no problem. It was done in 45 minutes. The shelves are also really helpful and there is space in front of them for a few long handled tools. It closes tightly but there are little openings here and there, like at the hinges and where the roof is put on. I didn't want roaches in mine so I put a roach trap on the floor. Seems to work well. It does not get wet inside as it raised a bit above the front.

Fits in the spot on my covered patio. It wasn't difficult to put together, but having another person helping is necessary. The parts fit together, but the extra person was needed to hold the unit in place while assembling it. No tools are needed, but having a rubber mallet, or in my case, a wood block and a hammer, helped "install" and slide the roof into place. I purchased two of the shelves (sold separately). The unit can take four shelves. You can use wood if you have it, but I didn't. I'm using it to keep BBQ tools, a small rotisserie cooker and other items for use by my patio set... freeing up kitchen space for seasonal use. I am happy with it. I'd recommend it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it, easy to assemble Purchased this shed after reading the reviews and looking at customer pics. Easy to put together (but I love/hate doing this stuff myself), would be easier with 2 people until the back is on, but I figured out a workaround. Bought 3 shelves, super easy to install after the first one. Look at the shed to see where to put the support brackets. Shelf for Suncast Shed Models BMS1250 and BMS2000, Model # BMSA7S, Internet/Catalog SKU# 204513670 Happy customer and wanted to share. You can have up to 4 of the shelves. Shed must be level to open easily. Hope this helps your search!
