Customer Questions & Answers

Can screws go into the walls (in order to secure tool hangers)?

Asked by: anonymous
It is a hollow plastic wall. What I did was add a shelf to the place in the plastic to hold a shelf (three places for shelves 3/4 inch thick) and put hangers on the edge of the shelf.

Asked by: PATTY
I would load the box in the truck and take it home to put it together. It does help to have an extra set of hands to hold things upright while fastening it together. It really more or less, snaps together. And it does have a floor.

Could the wind or a person accidentally tip over the shed? If so, what can be done to prevent it from tipping?

Should it / can it easily be tied down?
Asked by: Daniel
The Suncast Large Vertical Storage Shed model BMS5700 requires construction of a wood or concrete foundation. The floor panels have locations in the four corners on them for anchoring to this foundation. The Owner’s Manual will detail how to do this. A manual is available to preview at the Suncast web site for this model. If the remaining portions of the shed are assembled correctly according to the instructions, the shed should be stable and structurally sound. Thank you for your question and your interest in Suncast products.

What is the weight rating on this product?

In other words, how much is this shed supposed to be able to hold?
Asked by: Max
Suncast storage buildings and garden sheds from the smaller to the larger have been engineered to have floors strong enough to hold typical lawn equipment such as lawn mowers, riding mowers, garden tractors and snow blowers. As with all the Suncast sheds, the BMS5700 storage shed includes a reinforced floor to handle heavier items. Conditions such as foundation and weight distribution can affect the floor loading capacity. It is important that the load is evenly distributed. Adding support such as ¼ inch or 3/8 inch plywood to help distribute weight will allow heavier items to be stored. Do not store items on the roof and remove snow and debris to avoid possible weather-related damages. Do not allow heavy items to lean against the walls. Do not store hot items, such as recently used grills, blow torches, et cetera, within shed. Store heavier items near the bottom of the shed. Treat the shed carefully in extreme temperatures. Observing cautions and common sense measures will allow you to enjoy using any Suncast shed for years to come. Thank you for your question, Max, and your interest in Suncast products for your outdoor storage needs.

want to place next to house do I need space behind it to assemble or can i assemble from inside
Asked by: Somi
You can assemble with three sides exposed. You can not assemble from inside the unit. When you step inside the shed you must support the floor with a strong base foundation.

Customer Reviews

2 ft. 8 in. x 4 ft. 5 in. x 6 ft. Large Vertical Storage Shed is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 259.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don't buy this shed. Roof separates from shed walls. I bought this shed in Feb of 2016 and 6 months later I realized that the back two corner of the roof were separating from the back to corners of the shed walls. Now there is about a 1 inch gap between the roof and the shed walls that allow bugs, bees and rain to enter the shed. I called the Suncast support line and they quickly saw the problem and sent me a new roof. I installed the new roof and within five days I notice the same inward cupping of the roof causing gaps between the shed walls and the roof. I called the Suncast support people again...and they want to replace the roof again!!! Really? its a design problem because the back of the roof has no metal bracket support like the front does. I ask to return the shed and they want to just send me a new roof. Don't waste your time with this model. Unsure about the other models Suncast has but this one is just a big NO.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor quality, poor customer service I was thrilled with this shed for about 2 weeks. The side panels began to warp and bow causing the door hinges to detach and the shelves to fall. I contacted Suncast and was asked to provide pictures. I received an email blaming my foundation (a concrete and brick courtyard) for the problem. I was given 'sorry for the inconvenience, thank you for contacting us.' You are throwing your money away if you purchase this shed. This review is against Suncast, not Home Depot.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just what I needed to store all my small stuff. Assembly was easy, All the parts were there. It took longer to take out of the box than put together. Good looking also, fits in well.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Difficult to Assemble, But Functional The is one of many Suncast products have I purchased for my grounds, and the first one I had to complain about to the manufacturer. Some parts were mislabeled and one shed door did not have the holes drilled through. I had to do that myself. That said, I managed to correct the problems and assemble the shed. Since this is the first time I've had a problem with a Suncast product, I'll check it up to a one-off manufacturing deficiency and recommend this unit - with caution.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to build This storage unit is fantastic. We looked and looked for a decent sized shed that met the requirements of our HOA (not higher than our 6 foot fence) and finally decided on this one. This one turned out to be great. Easy to build and truly waterproof (it rains here almost everyday).

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Assembly was not very easy. i had to hit some parts really hard to get them together. WD 40 helpe... Assembly was not very easy. i had to hit some parts really hard to get them together. WD 40 helped. You must make certain the parts are completely together ,which was difficult. If the parts are together completely the doors work well. The unit is serving my purpose well.

Assembly was fairly straightforward, though the preformed plastic door latch on the lower left door would not stay in place. It has been water tight during several rain showers. The shelf (NOT included) was easy to cut out using the demensions in the manual.
