Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Works good for knocking down heat register air noise Bought 2 of these to knock down the air noise created by my furnace that is located in my attic along with my duct work. Because of this, all of my heat/air registers are located in the ceiling using flexible ducting. My house is on a slab. Using a Noise Meter app on my phone, the registers had a decibel level of 30dB at about six feet under the register and three feet to the side. For comparison, the room is 20dB without the air noise. I installed the mufflers in the attic as close to the output registers as possible. In my case about one foot away. The air noise dropped 5dB's to 25dB's. The 5dB drop was a very noticeable difference for us. Our living room is now much quieter. I am buying two more to install in other rooms. They were fairly easy to install considering that my attic is more of a crawl space than anything else. April 14, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good bang for the buck I built a home recording studio and used the in-line mufflers to improve sound insulation between the rooms. They reduce HVAC noise quite effectively, but don't make a big difference for sound transmission of loud noises between the rooms. Overall good bang for the buck. Good for home applications, but no professional product. April 9, 2013
