It was easy to put up. No drilling. I like the ease of setting it also.

Got these after my apartment was burglarized. I've had two of these for about 2 months now and the batteries just died (which may just be the brand of battery I buy and not an indication of the life of the alarm).
I use them for the front and back door of my unit on the upper floor of a four-plex. I think these are definitely a good, economical alternative to purchasing a full home alarm system. The siren is VERY loud and piercing. Let your neighbors know you have it because it will certainly get their attention if you're not home and they can call the police. Whether your neighbors are on your apartment floor or in the house next door they'll hear it. The chime setting is also very loud if you want to use it for alerting you each time the door is opened (when it's in unarmed mode).
They also come with security stickers that you can stick on your window. They say "Protected By Swann Security 24 Hour Video Surveillance". And since Swann is a legitimate video surveillance company, I feel better putting these on my window since burglars know the bogus security stickers (ACME etc.).
The only small downside is that there are only 4 numbers to choose from for a code, so options are limited.
This unit only takes alkaline batteries (3 AAA) so don't try to get extra life lithium or NiMH rechargables. Furthermore, I wouldn't recommend using Rayovac brand batteries either. They are supposed to last just as long as the leading brands but crapped out after 2 months. I find it hard to believe that Duracell or Energizer would do that.
All in all, not a replacement for a full home alarm system but a nice compromise for those of us that can't afford it.
