Product Overview

Enjoy fresh homegrown cranberries for the holidays. Contrary to popular belief, cranberries do not require a bog or marsh for successful cultivation. Cranberries can be grown in the same soils as blueberries. Plant in moist, acidic, well-drained soil. For best results amend the soil with peat moss 8 inches deep. Keep plants moist but not wet. Plant 2 ft. apart and grow as a ground cover. Cranberries also grow well in pots and hanging baskets.

  • Cranberry plants are easy to grow and make a great addition to the garden or grown in pots and hanging baskets as an edible patio plant
  • Cranberries are high in antioxidants and provide many nutritional benefits
  • Plant 2 ft. by 2 ft. apart and let grow together as a ground cover
  • Plant in spring or fall in acidic, moist, well-drained soil adding peat moss 8 inches deep into the planting bed will help the plants thrive
  • Cranberry leaves are evergreen and perfectly hardy, but exposed flower buds can dry out in winter and should be protected by covering with a layer of leaves or pine needles after the ground freezes in late fall
  • Cranberry plants grow well in patio pots and hanging baskets with a peat moss based potting mix
  • Cranberry plants in pots and hanging baskets can be stored for the winter in an unheated garage or other sheltered spot
  • Apply an acid fertilizer (such as a rhododendron or azalea fertilizer) at the recommended rate the first 2 years to promote plant growth and, in following years, apply fertilizer at half the recommended rate to encourage more fruiting vines
  • Easy-to-plant size
  • Container grown cranberry plants provide virtually no transplant shock and are ready to grow

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.8 out of 5 by 5 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Quality Products and Good Service Due to the climatic changes for having a long brutal Winter, my cranberry plants just got planted 5 days ago, and so far, they have changed leaves color,..... from red to green. I think this is promising. Delivery was fast and packaging was very good. The plants arrived well watered and hoping it will give me some fruits later. Keeping my fingers crossed. I have been a Home Depot fan many many years. Good Quality and the services are prompt. April 14, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Beautiful plant! I got this to try because it sounded like something fun to grow and have fresh berries from my own garden. It came well packed and on time and I kept it in my mini greenhouse while it was still frosty outside. Now its growing outside and looks lovely. Can't wait to see how it does through a winter and next season. So far so good. May 20, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Consistently great cranberry plants We ordered this item twice. The first ones were ordered in early spring and were mostly dormant. We weren't sure they would survive. Rather than lose a season, and since there is no way to contact the supplier, we placed a second order a couple of months later. We did manage to E-Mail the supplier but never received a reply. Both shipments are doing fine. The first got off to a really slow start but all are doing just fine. We had originally made the mistake of planting high bush cranberries years back which are ornamental with berries that are 90% seed. We pulled all of those out and established the new bed with these plants. We were happy to find these at Home Depot via internet. Now we can't wait to have these produce and get some real cranberries for my honey. Just have to mulch the bed to keep the weeds away. June 18, 2014
