They easily screwed in, but they should have been longer and thicker. The playset still had movement to it when I finished.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by BOATDRINKS71 Peace of Mind....Ease of Install
These anchors are easy to install, especially if you use an improvised t-handle, like a long screw driver or bit of scrap wood. Otherwise it can be hard to get them in deeply by hand. The retaining straps adjust easily and fit snugly against the wood when screwed in, leaving no sharp edges for little hands and feet to catch on. I purchased these anchors to use with my nephews playset. It had originally come equiped with wooden stakes that screwed to the playset after they were driven into the ground with a sledgehammer. Needless to say, after several months of hard playing they came loose every time he would swing. These anchors however haven't budged since installed, and have kept the playset very stable. Highy recommend as either original equipment or as a replacement.

We recently purchased these anchors to hold down our playset that has a slide, 3 swings and a tower. The anchor was easy to install in the ground. Attachment to the playset was easy. My only complaint is that the steel used for the strap that attaches the anchor to he structure was of pretty flimsy steel (I'm an engineer). My fear is that the strap may noy be a long-lasting product. Otherwise, it's a good value.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by sbonds Useless, try a spiral ring anchor instead
If your soil is loose enough to screw this in, it's too loose for the anchor to hold. If it's hard enough to hold, it's too hard to screw this in place. A better choice would be a "spiral ring anchor" (search the Home Depot site) and a suitable way to attach the anchor to the play set.

Used two boxes of these to secure plastic rainwater tanks. They are a little small for my use, but will work fine. If you need a lot of wind protection you might go a little bigger. For swing sets and things with light windload they are fine. Tip: a water meter key is excellent for driving them in!

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by aef1 Poor design
Designed for use in sand not soil. Once the spike hits rock, it will not go in any further. Practically impossible to pull back out. I was left with the spike sticking up five inches. Had to dig the spike out with a shovel and tear up the yard. Don't start unless you are certain you can drive it in completely.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Skippy Not too impressed.
I don't really see what these anchors are supposed to hold down. I screwed them into the ground and they pulled right out. At least they were sufficient to help me pass inspection, which is the only reason why I bought them.

Worked really well in clay soil with my woodedn swingset. The turnscrews were pretty easy to turn into the ground, and the hardware was easy to work with.
