Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent product Product was fine. If you have a pretty clear idea of what you want order online. It was shipped to me free but would have cost more if they sent it to the store. Also, if at all possible avoid the lady at the millwork desk at the Catonsville store. I ordered online after I had the worst experience with a HD employee. August 19, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Easiest Window wwe ever Installed We were shocked to find this product at home depot, and even greater surprised when the order arrived sooner than expected. This window fits the tolerances, has the extra stucco strip. We actually figured pout today that we will be needing more, so now we have an easy search of it. August 19, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by OK, but with design flaws OK, I have not used these windows for a considerable amount of time, so I can't comment on durability/quality. I worked in a window factory for 4 years and they appear to have decent quality in that respect. They, just from the feel of it, seem to be better built than the American Craftsman hopper window. BUT, they do have flawed design. For starters, the window is not easily removable. If there is a fire, I would like the window to be able to be taken out quickly so someone could crawl out if they absolutely had to. The way it is now, unless it is an adult strong enough to rip the window out of the frame (a man should be able to in a panic situation), a person will have to break it and deal with broken glass in emergencies. Better than burning, but it could be designed better. The American Craftsman window and it is much better in this aspect as you only need to do is open, lift one side and pull out, but they do not have a stock window in this size. Secondly, the window only opens approximately 5 inches at the top. This will not be a good window if you plan to let a lot of fresh air into the space. Again, the American Craftsman is much better in this area as it opens much more. Thirdly, the holes in the frames that are used to mount to your home are visible with the window closed. Typically, windows have holes where a closed window hides them. I imagine these don't simply because the windows barely open and they don't want people to have to remove the window from the frame to install. Bottom line, once your windows are installed, there will be 4 holes on the frame that will be visible. Only way to hide it will be with caulking but it collects dirt over the years. Hope this helps. I think they are average windows that will get the job done, but TAFCO really needs to look at redesigning these for better function and appearance. One last thing, they have a flange attached to the window that is bigger than the 22x32 that you are expecting. It can be easily removed by scoring both sides with a SHARP utility knife and carefully breaking it off from there. October 13, 2010
Rated 2 out of 5 by frustrated I ordered four of these vinyl windows. Three of them had damage to the frame. One was bad enough I had to send it back. I crossed my fingers and ordered another one, sure enough it was damaged too. I used it but I am not very happy with this product. It appears that someone has been dropping these windows onto there side, then the weight of the window punches through the frame. Besides the damage problem, the windows are not too bad. They are not air tight at the corners. Also I had hoped that the windows would open part way and hold there but they will only rest at the full open position. February 4, 2010
Rated 3 out of 5 by Ok window. I bought 3 of these windows to replace some ancient single pane basement windows all located in the back of my house under a deck so they won't see any rain. I just finished installing 1 of the 3 windows. However, in the front of my house I have 2 additional windows to replace eventually, and based on the quality of these windows, I won't use them there. One problem with these windows is they cannot partially open. I knew this beforehand. However, the "heavy duty lock" that is advertised is a total piece of junk. It is 100% plastic and flexes a lot. Also, the way it works is unusual so I don't know if there's an aftermarket replacement lock available. I don't know how these windows are going to handle the wind, but I will find out soon enough, Overall, the windows are just ok. They aren't energy star rated or low e, but man are they inexpensive. For the application I'm doing, they'll do fine. However, I'll spend a little more of the front 2 windows I plan to replace this summer. March 9, 2013
