Answer:
If I used them outside It would be for a short period of time and I would gp grease the jack screw lightly and make sure I had a base block or 4x4 under it on a level surface or concrete slab..

Answer:
It will rust. This is what H.D. says about it online; "It is ideal for correcting sagging floors and basement beams and providing secondary support for room additions, remodeling projects, porches and decks." It does say secondary support. P.T. lumber set on concrete is good.

Home depot does not sell the plates. Unfortunately that would not be cheap. You can do this your self if you have the tools and the know-how. I'm not sure if Home Depot sells the hardware. You may have have to go to a hardware store to buy the bolts and cap nuts. I would suggest stainless steel because they rust less and are of better grade quality that regular steel. You may also try contacting the manufacturer to see if they will sell these items directly to you or through Home Depot. I hope this info helps you with your project. Read Less

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by leveling this old house made my own mine is best. Not to many people now how to level a house properly i do April 3, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Flawed product I bought two of these to use as temporary support for a porch reinforcing project. I opened the first and manipulated the screw and found the threads damaged. I was about to get my file out and start correcting the problem when I noticed several other thread blemishes and decided to open the second one. It had similar problems. I suspect the problem is the way that it is packaged along with the bolts and the manner in which these heavy items are handled in shipment. The good news is that Home Depot refunded my purchase without a question. July 8, 2016

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Worked great Easy Instructions, Easy to use. Helped level out a sag in the floor. May 3, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very Robust Jack Originally, I got this jack to level a floor where a previous contractor had added a bathroom, cut a floor joist, and failed to support the 2 ends. These jacks had no problems lifting the floor and leveling the house. A 3/4" open end wrench is all that's needed plus support blocks and wood as deemed necessary. I have continued using these jacks to get rid of the creak and spring board affect that wooden floors develop over time. Very pleased with the performance and versatility of these jacks. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Perfect for the job I am refitting the floor of my porch from a cement block to cement footing. The jacks are infinite adjustable with the size range. The have been a great help. February 16, 2016
