Outdoor use

Is the jack post suitable for outside use under my deck where it will be exposed to weather?
Asked by: dond
If I used them outside It would be for a short period of time and I would gp grease the jack screw lightly and make sure I had a base block or 4x4 under it on a level surface or concrete slab..

Do you sell just the plates and pins for house jacks?

Asked by: Jimmy
Home depot does not sell the plates. However, they do sell steel plates that you would have to take to your local machine shop to have them cut to size, drill the four mounting holes and center hole and press the center for the adjuster bolt pin. Unfortunately that would not be cheap. You can do this your self if you have the tools and the know-how. I'm not sure if Home Depot sells the hardware. You may have have to go to a hardware store to buy the bolts and cap nuts. I would suggest stainless steel because they rust less and are of better grade quality that regular steel. You may also try contacting the manufacturer to see if they will sell these items directly to you or through Home Depot. I hope this info helps you with your project.

I Have 2 Questions, 1. Can I add a Gear to this jack and turn it with a electric motor? 2. Can I use this Jack for a Desk or Work table?
Asked by: Nimaa
Hi Nimaa, It cannot be motorized, and yes you may use it to support a table, however it would be a rather expensive table base. Mike

Super S Series 36 in. Jack Post is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 67.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Too tall for what we needed. They didn't carry the shorter one so I had to take it back. It is what it is and would have worked if our space wasn't so short. We have a very small crawl space and we bought this before realizing how skinny the crawl space was. Maybe a cat could crawl in the area. So we're going to have to use something much smaller to lift a beam that the flipper cut and allowed the floor to dip. One nail is not enough!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good and functional Basic adjustable jack stand. Excellent for jacking up floor joists to level or stabilize a sagging floor. There is a lot of flexibility built in to the unit, but the size that I bought was a little longer than I could use. I separated it (as suggested), then cut a couple of inches off of one end. It works fine.

I have used them on my house in the crawl space and they work fine the only flaw I see is the plates they need to be designed better so they stay in place without falling off or moving around, other than that it is a fine product.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from It's OK It works OK depending on amount of lift you need. Once post is bolted in place, you only get a few inches of height adjustment with the screw. I needed more jacking height (over 12 inches) so I ended up using a car jack.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to use and adjust. I have used 100's of these. Would like to see them distribute through their retailers like HomeDepot a composit pad for bearing these post. We commonly use a sawzall to cut these post to length.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just Not correct 4 Me. I needed below 20 inch high in which they seem to say in the listing, but after the top plate is added on they are 20 inches of height. So I couldn't use these in my crawl space project.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from not what I needed These are not jacks, but supports. Not what I needed at all. Had to get a bottle jack to do the job and get the beams fixed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Leveling the dining room / living room transition Appears to be well built and plenty heavy. Could use some directions, but easy enough to figure out. Would purchase again.
