Customer Questions & Answers

Is this product acceptable to seal and glue down on a walkout basement floor

We have Teragren Synergy Bamboo Flooring. We understand we need a vapor/moisture barrier to be applied before we glue the flooring down. Does this product do both...at the same time?
Asked by: yland
No. There is product from titebond designed for moisture. Apply that first, then use this glue

Project Question regarding trowel and instalation meathod?

Can this be installed with a Trowel? if so what is the recommended Trowel notch recommended to be used for hard engendered bamboo flooring? Project information: Installed engendered bamboo flooring thought the home that is all but impossible to nail down (as it is so condensed and hard to penetrate) and am looking to finish my stairs. using 1/4 inch cork underlayment (plan to use adhesive on my stairs to glue down the underlayment). Since I have already purchased soled stair tread that are about an 1inch 1/2 thick. I am thinking about using Titebond as the only think holding the stair treads down to the underlayment. The Underlayment will be held down by some other adhesive as Titenbond doesn't make cork adhesive. Is this recommended? Can this flooring adhesive handle a residential high traffic stair area without coming apart? Thanks for your help, DIYer
Asked by: DIYer247
Hello DIYer, If your flooring is less than 3" wide you would use a 3/16"x1/4" x1 1/2" center to center of a V notch trowel. If your flooring is wider than 3" you would use a 3/16" x 3/16" x 3/16" square trowel. As far as using over cork or on stairs I suggest you call the manufacture - Franklin international at 1-811-877-4583. Thank you for your inquiry. Charlotte of the Home Depot Community.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Effective, but need smaller quantities I used Titebond 821 to glue down the last couple of rows of my strand bamboo flooring. Strand bamboo is exceptionally hard, so face-nailing did not work. So far (2 months in), the adhesive has stayed intact and the boards have not moved. Product is pretty goopy and requires a fair bit of care in order to avoid dripping it on places you don't want it. After drying, the adhesive is mostly gummy, so even if some seeps up between boards, you can use a knife to cut it off and remove. My main issue is that the manufacturer only sells it in giant 3.5 gallon buckets, and I needed about 2% of that.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good stuff. Great price. I have used this product to glue down Calibamboo stranded klick-lock flooring over a dense rubber underpayment. It works quite well. I used this to glue the underlay to the subfloor too. Also used to glue stair treads to sub treads. Extremely tenacious. Appears to bond to most anything. I'd like to use for many other applications but it only comes in 3.5 gallon pails. It's impossible to reseal the lid and not have the top surface of what is remaining skin-over (but the hardened portion can be cut off easily). The HD price + free shipping is an extremely good deal when comparing prices to ANY other flooring adhesive. Calibamboo quoted me 20% more $ not including shipping charges. It is extremely important to work as clean as possible. Otherwise you'll quickly find yourself in a gooey mess. A rag damp with mineral spirits is absolutely required to have close at hand at all times for spot clean-ups. Any glue on any cosmetic surface must be cleaned immediately. Do not attempt to use to fill gaps. It slumps in any amount greater than the recommended trowel groove sizes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product, very easy to work with Great product! Easy to use and works great! Coverage is good and it spreads easily with the recommended trowel. I have found that it is very important to work clean with this glue. I installed 4 rows of flooring at a time, which was perfect. You must clean up the glue using mineral spirits if you get it any place that it should not be, so I recommend having a rag with mineral spirits on hand and within easy reach. Very happy with the product!
