About This Product

The Total Pond Pressurized Biological Filter is a garden pond stabilizing system that naturally purifies while it fortifies pond water. Here is how it all works: Pond water is drawn through an inlet and is then forced through three filter areas a coarse filter, a fine filter, and finally the bio balls. After the water leaves the filter, it is clean and fortified with positive bacteria that are essential for a healthy ecological balance in your pond. This filter is recommended for ponds up to 900 Gal. and can be placed either in the water or outside of it. This filter system can be used for garden ponds and waterfalls. The Pressurized Bio Filter must be used with a pump. Our 500-GPH Pond Pump and our 1200-GPH Waterfall Pump are both good choices.

Q:how often does it need to be cleaned out I understand it has to do with amount of fish in it but on average, about 1000 gal, and maybee 15 fish

Answer This Question

A:  Within the first week of usage you want to check the filters for any buildup, if cleaning is not needed it's recommended to check the following. With 15 fish you may have to clean the filters one or three times a month.

    Answer This Question

A:  This will depend on the size of the waterfall you are going to have. The smallest waterfall pump that we have however, would be the DDUV800.

      Answer This Question

A:  Frank, I have a waterfall too and the filter is outside of it. I used tygon tubing to connect submerged pump to filter. Good luck.

          Clean pond
This filter cleaned out our nasty green pond within a week. Now I can actually see the bottom! Haha! It's great. The only reason I don't give it 5 full stars is because it does leak from the lid (if you don't have superhuman strength to tighten it). Technically it doesn't matter, because that's clean water that would be coming out anyway, so it doesn't really affect how well it cleans, but it shouldn't be doing that regardless. (Although I will add: we keep our filter inside the pond, if you plan on keeping it outside of the water, this defect will be bad for you because you'll be losing water from your pond) I would still recommend buying it, because it definitely gets the job done.

            Challenging Product
Overall pleased with the product. However the manufacturer could do some things that would make it easier to install. Before purchasing I read reviews and a common theme was that the filter leaked at both the top and through the two hose adapters. My solution to the same problem was to use an additional s1 1/4" slip ring washer with the washer supplied for each of the hose adapter installations. The top lid leaked slightly however with a little extra muscle I was able to tighter the lid and stop the leak. This might be a problem with those who don't have the strength to do this. Also the manufacturer said that the 1" hose was not compatible with this filter. It actually is and I went to the additional precaution of using stainless steel hose clamps to make sure I didn't have any leaks at the hose attachment.

            Works well, but leaks
I had been battling algae with expensive chemicals until I installed this filter. It works very well, however, it leaks from the top cover.
