Does the entire back of these tiles have adhesive on them or just the connection strips?
Asked by: Anonymous
No, that is the beauty of this flooring. The edges have adhesive that bond tightly together, but the tiles do not adhere to the floor itself. The floor fits snuggly within the walls of the shifting. I wasn't sure how this would work either so I bought six tiles and stuck them together and put them down like a mat in my kitchen. I could see how well they bonded together and got an idea of how they would wear in this high traffic area.

Whole house?

I would love to know if this flooring would look good throughout an entire house? Our home is in FL near the water but not on it. Its a nice home, not a starter home and has a costal cottage look. Would this type of flooring cheapen the look of our home or is it nicer then the old fashion linoleum I remember from my childhood??? Thanks for any honest opinions!
Asked by: Michellerobin1979
The vinyl planks can definitely go in the whole house. I've used them in the first floor of my home in NJ. I also put alpine elm in a small room and in a 700 sq. ft apartment (which looks great when tenants walk in). Whether you would like this color in an entire house - depends on what style of house, the walls, what other people have in neighborhood. It might be too modern for the type of house, the painted walls. This is YOUR call, however. It is lighter, so if you need to brighten up the room, great. Another light color, with more beige is Khaki Oak. Great color - darker grey is Dove Maple... The greys are now more popular than the brown/golds that I used to prefer. Enjoy! I've never installed a color that I really didn't like.

Can I order just a few planks separtely? A case would just barely do my room, but I don't want to buy a whole case just for a couple of planks.

It's only available by the box.

Can you caulk the edges under the baseboards to keep water from seeping under the flooring while mopping?

Asked by: Anonymous
This is probably a question as to whether the caulk will adhere to any surface. As to mopping, we regularly mop with soap and water and have experienced no damage in four years.

We roll it and roll it, with the hand roller and the 100 lb roller, seems like it will be fine, then come back a few hours later and the edges are lifting again!! It is very frustrating. When we get done rolling it, it looks nice like we hoped it would but then it lifts again. After 24 hours it appears this is the way it is going to be and our only saving grace is that the room it is in will not be used very much. If it was in my main living area, I would be ripping it out and getting something completely different. It was easy to install as it said, but what good is that if it won't stick and lay flat? Very disappointed and would NOT recommend it.

We installed this flooring in an older double-wide mobile home in Florida that we have renovated. We put this flooring in every room but the two bathrooms, which had nice tile. This flooring has been down for about a month and overall we're pretty happy with it. It was easy to install. I would recommend having some sawhorses or something set up to place the box on for cutting the planks. We found that one of us could be cutting while the other person stayed on the floor and place the tiles. You do have to make the seams as tight at possible, because they will shrink up and pull apart slightly depending on the temperature of the room. The directions say that you can easily pull a tile back up, but it is not very easy. You have to peel slowly, or you risk breaking the strip or pulling all the adhesive off. Cutting the tiles width-wise was pretty easy. I was able to score once with a carpet knife and snap the plank. Lengthwise was a little more difficult. We would score the whole plank and then using some tin snips, start cutting and bending. After the first day, we noticed some planks popping up slightly. I placed some heavy boxes on those areas and that did the trick. Our local Home Depot did not have a roller for rent. We are in the Florida Keys and couldn't find one. After the first day, we made sure to put a lot of pressure on each tile as it was laid down. Then we kind of jumped up and down on them too. We haven't had any others pop up. I would recommend looking at all the tiles in a box prior to using them. We got on a roll and I didn't notice that one tile has a black spot, which ended up right in front of the stove. Out of 55 boxes, this is the only piece that was like that. It looks like someone dropped a black sesame seed or something. Of course, we're stuck with it. One thing that we have noticed (photo below), is that in our front room where we get a lot of light in, you can see a definite dip in the end of the planks. I can't help but think that the factory can package these planks in a way that the end won't bend down. You can't see it in the other rooms, but it's definitely there if you look. This flooring is designed to go over some floors that are not completely level. However, if you walk on the flooring barefoot and there are any places underneath that are not quite level, you are going to feel it. Overall, we are thrilled with the look and price of this floor for our vacation home.

The box said "easiest floor in the world" and it really is easy to install! I also installed a 12 x 36 tile-look floor and it went down just as easy. 1,2,3. My problem with THIS floor is that is scuffs very easily. I laid down 250 sq feet and it took toll on my knees and back (to be expected) but to see all the scuffs just a few months after the installation is disheartening! I will say that the other Allure floor with the tile-look did not scuff like this wood-look version does and I absolutely recommend that item (Allure 12 in. x 36 in. Shale Grey Luxury Vinyl Tile Flooring.)

I installed it in a small (35 sq. ft.) bathroom with several obstacles. Once I got the hang of it, it was easy to install. I even messed up a couple of times, and I was able to carefully pull them apart. When you score it, drag your knife across 3-4 times to make sure the cut is deep enough, then just snap it. There's a drain in my floor, so I just drilled a hole in the flooring using a hole saw, which worked well. I also purchased a transition strip from Allure, which worked well and was easy to install. My only problem was that there were several boards in the box that were broken when I took them out. I was frustrated, but I knew I'd bought enough extra, and I didn't have time to re-order. Also, the GripStrips get dirty really easily, so make sure you keep them away from dust and debris! It's only been in for a couple of days, but I'm excited to have it in for several years to come! It really finished off my bathroom nicely!

This is a great product and I have it in other rooms in my house but several pieces of this were broken off on the ends, as if they'd been dropped and shattered. Very disappointed as my contractor had to piece-in several square feet to finish the floor and because so many were damaged, the closet had to be finished off with something else. The contractor wouldn't have been able to return to the complete the job (for several weeks) if I had to re-order another box and wait a week or so for delivery. I will attempt a refund for the damaged box but have to drive an hour one way to the store so all in all, terribly inconvenient and disappointed. Highly recommend checking each and every box before purchasing.

This vinyl plank is a great true grey color. it is easy to lay with it being a peel and stick. we ordered it for our bedroom and ordered 7 boxes of it, with one of the boxes being completely damaged and unable to be used. I chatted online with a home depot's associate and they were able to have a worker come pick up the damaged and send us new boxes at a discounted price due to the inconvenience. i would definitely recommend it. it looks great and we love it!

Easy to install, very little waste but still a huge project for a 600 sq/ft basement floor doing it as a father son project in our "free time". We floated it over an old asbestos tile floor (red, white, black). Use floor leveling compound on old floor for missing tiles, cracks or seams. You need a good straight edge and a good knife with lots of fresh blades. Make sure to start correctly, follow the rule so you don't end up with a 2" wide board on the final wall! We'll see how it holds up over time, It looks and feels great. I did notice that it gets "marred" easy when sliding objects over it, but no scratches and it's only visible when the light hit's it at an angle. Floor very easy to clean, no "click" noise when you walk on it. Make sure you stay tight to the walls so the cove base covers the gap. I used caulking around the floor drain, hot water heater, sink and around the doors between the threshold and the end of the flooring to hopefully prevent water damage. We're very happy with how it turned out. With 6 new LED fixtures, GFI outlets, fresh paint on walls (light gray / blue), cove base (gray), sprayed the exposed ceiling black (would consider white next time) and 2 new storage closets, our basement was converted into a very clean, bright and usable area for the kids to play and hang out. Total cost of entire project, doing it myself with cabinets (2) and TV stand with fake fireplace ($349 at Home Depot) = around $2,300.00..... Tips: Cutting circles is a little changeling around poles, floor drains, hot water heater and ect. Don't place the glued edges together unless you know it's going to fit, they are difficult to peel apart and can get damaged. Keep you joints / seems tight. Shipment arrived on time at store, took them about 20 minutes to get it out to my truck, no big deal. Check your order!! I received several damaged cartons with chipped or broken planks, like the entire box. Return them and request new at the store no matter how small the box is damaged, look at the corners! They seem to break easily if damaged during shipping!! I was lucky, we used broken ones as end or starter 1/2 pieces - very little waste. Check your glue seams for dirt or small objects before setting into place, can create bumps. Clean your floor prior. Use the white shipping wax paper to cover the glue joints between work times to keep dirt out. Overall we are VERY PLEASED with the outcome for $1.79 per sq/ft in a basement. Don't think I would use low priced vinyl on the 1st floor, consider upgrade. Good for bathrooms, powder rooms, laundry rooms or small areas with this same product - my opinion anyway. Good luck, hope this helps!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good product Excellent product for price point, durability, and looks. Caution: keep floors clean and buy cloth sliders. Holds up to pet spills excellent. No weeping like other floor types. This is the 3rd Allure vinyl plank floor from Traffic Master I have installed. Happy with all 3; however, the other 2 (country pine, ? cherry, seams were barely visible. This color/style (ironwood)is little more glossy and easier to notice it is vinyl not real wood in bright lighting. Also, this floor shows the white underlayment at the seams the surface is laid on in shadowy light at night. Not in direct light. Only when light from a lamp is on in another room. Overall, a great product but I think I would have picked another color/pattern if I knew the seams would be visible in reflected light....
