Customer Questions & Answers

what size vent pipe kit do i need the 3in or the 4in

Asked by: jojo
3" or 4" will work for this stove. If you plan to run the vent vertical vent more than 5 feet I suggest using 4" pipe. Some pellet stoves require 4" vent pipe and some other pellet stoves require 4" pellet pipe if there vent run is taller than five feet. This stove does not say you have to increase to 4" at a certain height but you will spend more money replacing an entire 3" pellet chimney with a 4" pellet chimney for another stove in the future.

Does this stove come with a 120 cfm or 200 cfm blower

I see this advertised differently on the US Stove website...it says 200 cfm blower, yet on Homedepot it says 120 cfm?
Asked by: DaveInVermont
Mine has the 200 CFM blower, and a year later I get to buy another one at 360 dollars not a great product.

What's the best pellets to use

Asked by: Brandon
We recommend a Premium wood pellet be used. There are many different types. Hardwood pellets seem to perform better. brands are very geographic specific.

I purchased a Wood Pellet Stove from Home Depot on 11/01/2013, and they ordered it from this company. Stove arrived, and I had it installed. The front grill was very uneven on the right corner, but I kept it because I didn't want to have to return it and wait for another delivery. All very time consuming. Running the stove is VERY loud and annoying. After just 3 years, the Fire Bricks fell apart, and a week later 2 major parts had to be replaced. The technician had to install a new Blower Exhaust, and when he turned the stove back on, he had to also replace the Blower Convection. The Technician said that in all his years he never seen anything like this. Nothing should need replacing after just 3 years of winter use. Fire Bricks cost me $ 101.92 plus $ 108.26 Installation. Blower exhaust and Blower Convection cost me $ 674.10. So in 2 weeks time I had to spend $824.27. I filed a claim with the BBB in TN, but the Stove company never replied to the BBB. I guess it shows how much they care about their product and customers.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Do not buy this stove. Don’t buy this stove, I purchase one at Home Depot in September, and then found out it has to be cleaned every day. I have tried many different brands of pellets, and if you use the good all hard wood pellets (I paid $5.50 per bag), you may have to clean it twice a day. Before I realized how bad the stove is, it literally stacked pellets on top of the pot, and it started burning up the pellet chute. The manufacturer sent me another controller board (took 3 weeks to ship it to me), but it made no difference, so I am going to deal with this piece of junk this winter, and scrap the stove this spring. Do not make the same mistake I did, do not buy this stove.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great stove We had a stove from another company--cost more, wouldn't heat--this stove has put out more heat in three hours than the other stove did in 10 days. we feel great to be warm again. It has a labor warranty as well as parts. It is easy to operate and has an ash fall thru drawer--but best of all "IT HEATS" and also quiet compared to the other stove.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lots of heat and quick auto lighter great product! I have had two other pellet stoves so i have lots of experience. One is the cheapo unit from lowes its in the basement doesnt throw much heat and caught on fire twice! It is junk! Bought it 6 years ago and cant wait to replece it. The other a quadra fire top of the line paid $3500 for it, lasted 8 years and this is the replacement. It throws more heat then the other two stoves combined!! Cons: flame can not be adjusted! 5 heat settings that set both flame and blower, would rather see smaller flame and higher blower for when no one is home. Also loud blowers Pros: so much heat! Burns through your pellets fast but blarring hot and strong blowers! Auto ignition is very quick! Had it two weeks now and no ash??? Old quadra fire had to be emptied every 5 days. No reliability data yet it's too new. I have 3000 square feet and this thing will hear the whole place till you have to turn it down! Pretty sure btu rating is understated.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Reconsider another stove I live in the mountains of Colorado. I bought a new 5660 pellet stove in July, and installed it in August. First of all: The "thermostat" is not really a thermostat. I only regulates the heat output when the room temperature falls below the temperature that you set. In my case, when I first started using it, the temperature reached 88 degrees when I had to shut it off. The first Customer Service representative told me that my pellets were too small and that I should pick out the small ones as I am pouring in the pellets!!!! It took me speaking with three different people, finally a manager, who explained that it is not really a thermostat. Here is the worst problem: I have used the pellet stove probably 20 times over the past 2 months, and have broken/jammed the auger four times. US Stove did send me a replacement auger after the first one broke (not just the pin but the bottom of the auger). I was totally mislead on how to remove the auger, and it took 2 calls to get the correct directions. Now, we are at 5 degrees below zero, and the auger has jammed again, and broken the pin again! Home Depot said it will replace it even though I am just outside of my 90 day warranty, but I have to bring it in (30 minutes to get to the store), get a credit on my credit card, and then they can order a replacement. I don't think I am outside of my warranty period since this problem has been happening since I first started using it. Home Depot won't order one for me so that I can pick up the new one when I drop off the old one. I will be in freezing for days until Home Depot get the replacement in. US Stove and/or Home Depot should stand up and do the right thing. Send the replacement stove to the store, and let me know when it comes in. I will then exchange my bad one for one that hopefully works better.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sure beats a heat pump! Living in South Carolina, where a woodstove would be to much, a pellet stove is perfect. Most houses down here have heat pumps, which seem to blow cold air except for when the temp drops below 30 degrees, then the electric meter spins so fast you can't see it, until your bill arives in the mail. We installed this pelletstove last month, and we love it. WARM heat! As of yet, this year the heat pump has not run at all. We run the stove during the evening/night, and then first thing in the morning. Keeps our 2300 sq, ft, home very comfortable. Had to do some searching for pellets, but found if you order a ton at a time(this is just about the amount I am figuring to heat the house this season), they are easy to find, and a ton of pellets stacks nice and neat. Much neater/cleaner than draging firewood into the house. Cleaning is a not a problem, and the glass stays clean. My neighbor has a very high dollar stove, and he has to clean his glass after every bag of pellets if he wants to see the fire. So far, this has been a very dependable stove, anyone can install it with some planning and the right tools. I have read thousands of reviews before buying this stove, from some very low dollar to some very high dollar. If you read them all, no one makes a perfect stove! This one works great, is dependable, looks very nice, and warms the house! They all make some noise, but this one is quiet, does not impede conversation or the T.V. Plan before you buy, measure twice, and if it fits, buy it! I would much rather spend the money on pellets(I figure I will save between three and four hundred a year on electric) and have a real fire in the living room!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Choose another Brand The auger and bushings seized up just one week after the stove was installed. U.S. Stove's website doesn't stock the parts to repair the auger. I had to search someplace else to buy them myself. There are no repairmen near here so I had to fix it myself, as well. The hopper is not as big as advertised. It only holds about 40 pounds of pellets. It barely runs through the night without running out. On the lowest heat setting I can only run it about 10 hours before it needs to be refilled. On a higher setting I will have to fill it during the middle of the night. The front door doesn't seal well and there is no adjustment to fix it. This causes a little air to leak by the side windows. It also causes them to stain very quickly and it is almost impossible to clean off. I'm not happy with this stove. It's putting out heat now, so, it's better than the old broken one that I had. It's better than nothing but next time, I will choose a different brand.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Cheap parts, awful customer service Within 8 months the auger jammed 3 times. Each time, the motor continued to spin, damaging the auger shaft. Contacted the store I bought it from as well as the manufacturer multiple times, neither one is willing to refund or replace the obviously defective stove, even though it clearly states in the warranty paperwork the manufacturer will.
