Customer Questions & Answers

Does this unit have a fresh air intake duct?

Asked by: Bob
It does but if you install the stove pipe properly it is not needed. Mine is straight through the roof with about 20 total feet of pip and I have an amazing draft with absolutely no need or the fresh air intake.

Can we use coal instead of wood?

I bought 3,000 SQ. FT. EPA CERTIFIED WOOD-BURNING STOVE from Home Depot few weeks ago. I was wondering if I can use coal to burn in the stove instead of wood. I heard that coal is hotter and runs longer.

Would there be a benefit in installing either a damper or waste heat circulater in the stovepipe above this stove?

Asked by: Howard
We use a damper with our product. This stove puts out a lot of heat.

But I feel that the US Stove Model 3000 is worth reviewing. This stove is very well made. I installed it into my 1900 sq. ft. out building to heat my woad shop. I live in northern Illinois and have been using this for the 2016 winter. I have 10 ft ceiling so there is a lot of cubic area to heat. I have been getting about a 20-30 degree rise above the temperature in my building. So far I haven't had any days where my building was below 30 degrees F. The interior of the stove is very large and holds plenty of wood. The small handle below the door controls the air flow. I ran my stove pipe through the ceiling and straight out the roof. The ridgeline is at about 20 ft. This install has provided an amazing draft while the flu is wide open. Fires are very easy to start and burn hot without any issues of going out due to lack of air flow. The install was relatively easy... nothing out of the ordinary for what it is. The blower is a nice feature considering it is included but in the size of the space I am heating it doesn't seem to make a significant difference. Also the noise level of the blower seems fin to me but again I am in a relatively large open space. Overall I consider this a great product and would recommend it to anyone looking for a large wood burning stove at a reasonable price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great stove!!! Not much for reviews but since I just put in a wood stove and read all the reviews I could I figured I would post one to help out. I got this guy after doing a lot of reading and research and (Shopping) around and figured I would post about it were I had been looking at woodstoves. Had it put in the basement of a 3 story 2400 square foot house not including basement. Heats the whole house including my basement which had no heat to 70 plus degree's at all times easily (temp has dropped down to 10 degree's low so far this season). Its a nice heat as well as it heats the floors and frame of the house so even when the fires been out for a while the whole house stays warm for most of a day. I simply open the basement door and let the heat rise up out which is oppisite side as the woodstove. If I made vents I'm certain I could get the house much warmer but we like the 70 temp as we have to let the fire go out to get to sleep. Has enabled us to stop using oil to heat so far this winter which is saving tons. I think if you dont have access to wood or are not planning on doing much of the work yourself its a tough choice to get a wood stove after all the research I've done as far as cost savings are concerned. But as I have a lot of wood on my land to pluck at and plan on buying green cords in the spring and cutting them up myself at 100 dollars per cord much cheaper so it will work out great. About half the cost of oil at a much warmer tempature. I dont even use the ash tray as I figure that would be more work. I bought a bucket and ash scooper which is easy to maintain. Its easy to control and starts very easy even easier if you get some kiln dried wood which I tried and is like firestarter itself. Deffinently recommend this stove and patiently awaiting for my next power outage to feel the true value of my purchase :-). p.s take out bricks before moving into house much lighter, was able to move it with myself and brother out of back of truck but might want a 3rd or 4th person as we are pretty able for the job.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from a little disappointed missing parts:- sheetmetal deflector from rear, screws to hold drawer handle. got the runaround from manufacturer when i called to request parts. instructions are poor. there are parts (specifically gaskets) that are not mentioned anywhere in the instructions, only when i called to whine did i discover where they went. however i had assembled it beyond the ability to install it without disassembly so i left it out. hard to get started. doesnt draw too well. small chimney to blame methinks. however once its going, it burns a nice long time. doesnt get as hot as im used to. tho its much more efficient than my last one. door is kinda small.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It looks like a wood stove, not a gas furnace! This stove heats my whole house! If I load it right there are at least a bed of coals in the morning. Frequently there are still flames. I add a couple of chunks of wood and it starts right up. I've very impressed!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic Stove for the Money I live in Virginia, we have cold winters but nothing compared to up north. I put this stove in my basement (2250 sqft) and it is a dream to use. Once you get it going it will run you out of the place with dry wood. If I pack the stove full, I can get it to burn about 9 hours with decent heat output. I have two small pieces of advise for those who buy the stove. #1 Leave the door open/cracked till the fire is good and hot. Then shut it and you will be a lot happier, even though it means watching it for a few extra minutes. #2 The glass cleans super easy. I found, if I got the stove nice and hot, opened the door and wiped it with a really wet terry cloth, it cleaned perfectly with zero scrubbing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best stove I have ever owned or used. I've used this stove for a couple months now, and am completely happy with it. I can't think of anything I would change. It is simple to use, clean, and I can consistently achieve longer than an 8 hour burn, while still getting significant heat. We have a 4,000 sq. ft. home, and installed this on the lowest level. We have another stove on the second floor that we use as needed, but this stove pretty much maintains the temp above 68 degrees when the outside temp is above freezing. The fire box is deep as well as wide, and high enough to get a double layer of wood into it, unlike our other stove that brags about having the largest fire box. The wood burns so thoroughly that there is very little ash. The glass in the door really does stay clean. We haven't cooked on it, but it has a very large top that would work well for cooking.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Buy This wood stove heats our house wonderfully. The blower is quiet and helps distribute the heat more efficiently. I had done a lot of research on this Stove to make sure it would heat the larger size of our home. The purchase price was great with Home Depot and delivery options worked for us. Nice looking stove and works well heating our home.
