Answer:
Even though their from the same company [RPM], the safe answer is "no". In the trade, they'd be called "marketable substitutes".
Even when you buy multiple cans of the SAME stain, it's recommended that you blend containers together since, from can-to-can, there can be noticeable differences.

Answer:
I think that would be a good idea both for color protection and to protect the finish in general as kitchen cabinets are subjected to a lot of wear and tear from usage and cooking deposits. Do not go too glossy. Probably should stick with a satin to avoid accentuating any blemishes, but that depends on the look you are trying to accomplish

Answer:
We do recommend using a top coat with Varathane Premium Wood Stains. They can be top coated with Varathane Triple Thick Polyurethane for your cabinets. Polyurethane can be applied after 1 hour of applying the stain.

Rated 4.5 out of 5 by 6 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Stained a wood beam that spans the length of the room. The color was just beautiful. This stain seemed thicker than others I have used and went on easy. Beautiful color - Carrington. October 26, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Perfect match Needed to match some bare wood on kitchen cabinets to existing stain. Brought sample to the store was able to find perfect match. Looks great September 24, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good Frame turned out great, was a little darker than I wanted, just sanded it a little. April 5, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by True to color on can I used this to refinish my kitchen table of the same color. The colors is true to the can and was easy to apply. I thought I'd need more that one coat once the table was stripped, but a second coat would have made the table too dark. No problems. A little goes a long way. Wish I had purchased the smaller can. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by A Good Product, but I Always 2-Coast As a woodworker, I use a lot of stains for my oak, pine, and cypress pieces. [I seldom stain other species.] What I like best about these stains are their 'leveling' characteristics ... since I don't use any other type of leveler on these 'wild' grained woods. I like to apply with lint-free rag leaving any nooks and crannies for disposal foam brush [that's because I hate cleaning up oil-based materials]. March 24, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Satisfactory product Spreads very evenly, Nice coverage. Easy clean-up, February 23, 2015
