Answer:
The idea is for it to pump hot air our of a space. If you have no vent all I can see it doing is moving hot air around. It really has to have a hole to vent the hot air out or it would not really be effective.

Hi, if I understand the question, Yes it can be installed and I installed this same unit in mine. I want to be clear that the statement "there are no vents or window" is probably worth addressing first. The fan is rated at 1650 CFM, which is a huge volume of air moved and makes this efficient.
This unit is designed to be installed in a area that it can exhaust the hot inside air. I have a screened gable vent at the peak of my garage attic and I added proper vents around the eve of the garage as to create a air flow that sends the hot air out of the gable vent area and pulls in cooler outside air in through the eve vents. My garage attic was running 110-120 degrees in the summer and it with the venting and fan, it stays at less than 98 degrees.
The lifespan of your roof will be enhanced as a un-vented garage roof will drastically reduce the life of the shingles.
Best of luck, anything worth doing, is worth doing right.

Answer:
Hi FMP457,
This gable vent could be installed in your garage--however, you will need to have some form of intake to ensure the unit performs safely and correctly. This requirement can be met by installing soffit vents, gable louvers, or other forms of intake which combined meet the minimum 792 sq. in. of net free air intake needed.

I do not know the RPM. It is 1600 cubic feet per minutes which is one of the higher fans as far as ability to move air.

The motor tag does not state. The 2.1 AMP motor and 1650 (CFM) volume makes it hum pretty good when it kicks in. It moves the air quickly, I now have it set at 98, works well.

Answer:
The thermostat is included and wired to the product in such a way it is mounted close by. The installation is not hard. You do need to bring electric to the area and that attachment needs to be done correctly but it certainly is not difficult.

Yes. It has a thermostat as part of it. It comes with the thermostat. It seems to work pretty well, I monitor the temp and it seems to switch around the setting chosen.

Answer:
There is not, per se` a thermostat. There is a heat sync (again, per se`) inside of the power box. The temp dial that you adjust for the activating temp is the flat-head dial.

The unit is mounted indoors, but since mine is at the 6 foot level in the attic of the garage, when I installed it, i added a galvanized mesh I had from another project as a guard. Worked well.

Hello George,
While there is no wildlife guard that accompanies this model, we do offer a gable shutter with automatic aluminum louvers. This is part CX2121. You can call 800-433-1626 for more information, if needed.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Very powerful fan! At 1650rpms, this fan is very loud, but it does what it is meant to do. I have two of them: one is mounted vertically in my garage's ceiling to pull the hot air out of the garage & blowing into my vented attic. The airflow is so strong that this one fan reduces my attic temp (1950 sqft) dramatically so that I can do just about anything in the attic without passing out from the heat - this was not the intended purpose of this fan but boy, do I ever enjoy this side affect! The second fan was supposed to have gone on the other end of my garage's ceiling so that I'd have 2 fans pulling the hot air out of the garage into the attic...but I had a DiY epiphany: I installed the second fan into my garage's wall butted with the laundry room! Why, you ask? Well, I have the one fan pulling hot air out but nothing cool is coming in, so the second fan pulls from the laundry room, blowing into the garage! I have a PAC that was vented into the attic, but it was more problematic than it was worth. I do not want my garage A/C'd, I am only in it (for the most part) to smoke since I do not smoke inside of my house (yeah, I can hear the "You should just stop smoking..." comments!), so unless I'm doing something long term with my vehicles, I am only in the garage at tops for 10 minutes to smoke...I'll use the PAC out on the lanai when guests are over! This was a decent investment...now to do some finishing on them both: borders on both, a screen or functional louvers on the wall. Oh, FYI: do not attempt to put a solid state speed control, e.g. dimmer switch, etc. on this fan (that happens to be #1 of the Do Not Do list in the instructions). I wanted one (had one) on the wall fan to control its speed while I'm in the garage, but... May 4, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Art's new Attic Fan A solid powerful exhaust fan. I had to rebuild the existing mounting board supports and start over with just a 161/2" existing square shutter mount hole. I trimmed 1/2" from the edge of a square 23 1/2"board to fit diagonally thru this hole, Cut the required 15 " dia hole, then screwed this mounting board inside the shutter opening from the outside thru my wood siding. It worked !! Mounting the fan assembly was not a problem. After hooking up the electrical, 4 HD screws from the outside holds it in place. This 1650 CFM fan moves a lot of air. I covered my 2 whirlybirds on the roof and I can feel the strong breeze blowing at an attic access hole. I'm very happy with this purchase of Cool Attic 1650 Gable Mount Fan. Art . July 22, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Really Moves the Air Easy to install and really blows a lot of air. The best part is the Lifetime Warranty! July 12, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Really Moves the Air! This fan was easy to mount and really gets the hot air out of the attic. It is a little noisy, but the cfm is larger than most. Do you want quiet and no air movement? NO! Lifetime warranty is also a big plus! July 19, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nice attic vent fan The vent performs great. It pulls the air through the house, keeping the house cooler. August 2, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Satisfied with purchase The directions that came with the product were clear and showed the best way to install the product to someone not really sure how to do it. The air flow needs to be somewhat isolated so the flow is directed (forced actually) to the outside and the directions showed how to do this quite clearly. This was good! July 19, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Cool Attic 1650 Failed. Motor seized within 8 months. It installed easily, but failed within one year. Motor seized. Installed in late fall of 2015 and it didn't live beyond June 2016. July 4, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Love my Attic Fan I have already recommended this product to a family member in Denver CO. Also stated to have it shipped directly to store so that it will not be damaged. Easy install and no missing parts. It has been installed now for over a week and running properly. I am happy. June 24, 2016
