I use a weak solution of Dawn on a soft cloth, then rinse off with clean water....these are very durable items and stand up very well to all weather situations.
Hope this helps...

Answer:
Buy a pack of name brand brand AA rechargeable batteries (4 for about $10). Replace battery in those lights not staying on as long. Old battery is likely not holding a full charge.

If a couple of your lights only last a couple hours at night it might be that they are getting some shade during the day where as the other two are obviously getting sunlight for most if not all day long. I have four that are spaced on the railing along my lower deck and ramp. I have one that works less than the others just because it doesn't get as much sunlight during the day. I plan to buy more of these post lamps for another ramp that I have running to the back of my yard. I suspect they will work differently than the others too as they get more afternoon shade. Answer:
Just pull out the tab of paper that is sticking out of the battery area, and if it won't come out open battery case and take out the paper, then make sure batteries are in correct position before closing the battery compartment back up.

Answer:
As far as I know, the entire unit is rust free. I haven't had them through winter yet. But, with the watering, I haven't seen any implication of rusting.

4 in. x 4 in. White Solar-Powered Post Cap is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 537.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good value for the money These lights are for the vinyl fence posts...NOT wood posts. The material is adequate and the light is great for a decoration to the yard. Not too bright, but certainly bright enough for most folks. I put a little silicone between the base and the lens so high winds wouldn't blow the light portion off, as it's not a very tight fit. But they work well and are reasonably priced. If the battery does need replacing in the future, the silicone will be easy to remove. These units really dress up the fence and yard. Note: there's an "on-off" switch inside the unit near the battery. Remember to check this if the lights don't come on when you first set them up.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not for use with vinyl fence posts The information with these units should expressly say they're for WOOD 4"X4" fence posts, because wood posts aren't really 4"X4". They're closer to 3 1/2" X3 1/2" and these caps will work just fine. But vinyl posts are really 4" X 4", and these will not fit. I purchased 16 of these and was disappointed when I found they won't fit my posts. They look like decent units otherwise. Home Depot took them back without any problems.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from SIMPLY GORG!!!! LOVE THEM!!!!! Just had these installed when I replaced my back steps and railings. For the price, I am THROUGHLY IMPRESSED with these solar caps so far. They stay on until dawn and even on cloudy days they still hold a great charge. I had purchased some more expensive ones just in case but returned them since these are doing the job. They give off a nice glow and work for my needs which was more for decorative enjoyment. I have lots of solar lights around my house and I REALLY LOVE the fact that bugs are not really attracted to them....SCORE!!!!! I guess for the money if they last for a while then I won't complain.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love These This is one of the least expensive solar post caps they have and it actually puts out a lot of light, but you need to buy a roll of white duct tape and tape over the glass areas inside that facing away from the areas you want lighted and I also taped above the light and cut off any excess. I installed these as corner lights and the white tape inside is not even noticed.. It now puts out 2 to 3x more white glowing light.. Also I glueed clear pieces of cut plexiglass on top of each light and placed another piece under the light to keep water/bugs from sneaking in over time.. I will see how long these last.....

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very bright, long lasting. I live on the West River and have a 100 foot pier. I installed 12 of these the full length, about every eight feet. I mounted them on 4x4 posts about 2feet tall. They were very easy to mount. They come on early in the evening and during the night, they are very bright, and reflecting in the water. When I get up in the morning, they are still lit. Very pleased.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent The first and only set of post toppers I have ever bought that actually fit snugly and surprise surprise, they were also the least expensive.
