Will this work for larger rats? Or is this meant for smaller mice?

Asked by: RachelJ
I attach them to the corners of my "All Cedar" house, about 5 feet off the ground and it keeps the squirrels off pretty much. Works great on Raccoon fingers also.

After several tries of using peanut butter as bait (which resulted in non-triggered traps), I switched to a piece of dried sausage tied with a fishing line. What usually takes a week to a month, had my first trapped mice within 24 hours. Then I checked the other 4 traps, after a week, which all 4 had successfully worked their magic. Thus, it's not the trap that doesn't work but how you set up the bait. All the 5 traps had mice, but I saw a big rat in the attic while removing the traps. So, I went to Homedepot got 5 more traps.

I had mice in my attic this past spring and on one go-around they ate the peanut butter but the trap did not go off. So, I super-glued sunflower seeds to the trap and caught the mice.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simple. Cheap. Works. Read the title. We put 2 traps out in the yard after seeing 2 rats stealing bird food. Found one entry point that seemed to be the primary and set them there. The tough thing with baiting these outdoor traps is the ants getting the peanut butter first. First week, the bait was covered in ants in an hour. One did go off and gave somebody a haircut but no kill. This week it turned cold so we tried again. Nailed one last night and a 2nd today. Can't ask for more for the price!

Couple of tips: set two traps right next to each other. One of them will catch the rascal. I find that peanut butter melts, and allows them to nibble. I prefer the old standby of cheese. The one thing I hate is trying to set the trap without getting my fingers caught. There are also plastic versions that work just as well. But no need to spend a lot of money.
