Do you need to lay something underneath the mulch so weeds don't come through

Asked by: Johnny3454
Yes, I would suggest a barrier prior to mulching

Is this the shredded kind of mulch or the nuggets kind? Thank you! Tim

Asked by: tim
It's more like nuggets, but not big ones!

Does the rubber mulch have any smell at all?

Asked by: Tine
Very faint smell when it first comes out of the bag. But after you have emptied the bag and applied it to the mulch area, no smell.

0.8 cu. ft. Mocha Brown Rubber Mulch is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 377.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product I was planning on using shredded rubber mulch around my house, because I hate how wood mulch fades so quickly and develops white fungus, but not until next Spring. However, I needed something to put around a patio area that was in place of our pool. I went with the nuggets to save some money, as the shredded is $4 more per bag. However, after spreading this, I will use this around the front as well. Spreads so easily, covers alot, and looks great. I love how light the bags are to carry to where you need them, as opposed to shovel and wheelbarrow. Really tempted me to replace the mulch in the front as well now, instead of waiting til Spring, but I'll see what it looks like after a winter.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My whole back yard Basically 2/3 of my back yard is rubber mulch. Doesn't float, last, and stops weed growth. 20 times better than cypress mulch. By the way with a standard leaf blower leaves just blow off leaves, not the mulch.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Stuff! I raked out the bigger pieces of old hardwood mulch already in my beds and then spread this stuff. If the mulch is close in color to the old stuff you're replacing, you can go pretty light with the coverage. Each bag only covers .8cu ft., but I don't think I have even a 2" depth on average. The pieces are smaller than regular mulch and so far at least 2 of my neighbors are going to use it as well after seeing mine. The big bonus is looking at how nice this is and thinking about how many tires are NOT in a landfill now! And don't worry, almost zero odor and I have a sensitive sniffer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Mocha Brown Ruber Mulch I love the rubber mulch. Just put it down and spread. Retains color, weeds are easy to take care of. Just refresh at needed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product Wanted to wait a year, so I could give an honest review of product. We put this down in April 2015 and one year later it looks exactly the same. We have received so many compliments and inquiries about the mulch. Now my neighbors are converting. Yes, it does cost more, but we didn't have to purchase any additional mulch to spruce up the way wood mulch fades. I told my husband the true test would be getting through two winters (Maryland) to see if it was truly worth the price. One winter down and looking good. At this point I don't think I would ever go back to wood mulch.

That's more than can be said for most other "guaranteed not to fade" dyed mulches. Naturally it doesn't break down and enrich the soil, but it sure is nice not to have to keep top dressing. I only gave it a 4 because we've been told that it really should not be used in FL (where we are) around plants because it makes the roots too hot. I don't know if this is true or not . . . .

We really liked the color and the fact that while it helps retain moisture, it does not rot or mold. The only problem with this product is that it is made up of light weight rubber pieces which can be a problem when blowing leafs or other debris out of the beds. As long as you are careful with the leaf blower it really works out well and looks very nice in the beds.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worth every penny We just finished landscaping our yard and decided instead of buying wood mulch we'd spend the extra money up front on rubber mulch. We looked at several brands and the Vigaro was just as good quality and color as the others but much less expensive. We ordered 60 bags online and they had them set apart on a pallet for us when we went to pick up our order. They just fork-lifted the whole pallet into the bed of our pickup. This mulch is very good quality. We didn't find any metal at all. There are a few "fuzzy" pieces but they just blend in. It's nice and heavy and weathered the recent rain without moving an inch.
