Customer Questions & Answers

How far can this pump pull from.

My well is around 250' from the house and I would like to install this in my basement. Currently there is a submersible pump in the well at 25 feet. The builder put too small of a wire in to properly power the current pump.

I bought a new Shallow Well Pump SWS75 Last July 16 and it has failed. The cost was $132.05 including tax. Now the same pump is listed for $232.00?

It is needed to run my sprinkler system in the heat of the VA summer. Is this a mistaken price or has it gone up a $100 in one year??? My order summary 16 July 2015 - W385516491

I ran into the same situation. I bought a SWS75, and it quit after two cycles. I could not get it replaced with another of the same type, so I bought a 1/2 HP pump, which cost much more. I believe the manufacturer was trying to get rid of a bunch of badly designed pumps, then when engineering fixed the issue, they quite naturally charged more for the same, but re-engineered, pump. This is an opinion I shared with Home Depot, and was rewarded with some agreement, but I still spent more to get a lesser replacement. To be fair, the 1/2 HP pump is adequate for my needs, and it has run flawlessly for about a year and a half. I may be wrong about the SWS75 situation, but I believe something not quite kosher was going on. Thanks for reading my rant. Hope this helps you all to some degree.

3/4 HP Shallow Well Jet Pump is rated 3.9 out of 5 by 17.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from 3/4 HP SHALLOW WELL JET PUMP I use this pump to water my lawn via several sprinklers. Unlike my old pump (Sears), this one requires a tank in order for the pressure switch to work. I was able to turn off a sprinkler with the old pump and the unit would shut off. This pump will not do this unless I install a tank with it. When I want to switch a sprinkler, I first must turn on the new one and then turn off the old one. Since Sears does not have pumps any more, I looked at several manufacturers and Wayne was the only one with a 3 year warranty.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well, thank goodness the installation is complete and working. This Wayne pump replaced an old unit in a remote installation. I couldn't afford to hire a professional and it was so hard to get down to spring location, I didn't want to ask a friend for help. I had no experience with wiring or pumps, but this nice cast iron shallow well jet pump slipped right into the system and pumps nicely!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Easy to install This was fairly easy to install. Had my boyfriend and his father did it and they had no problem with it. The most work was replacing the old pipe lines from the old well pump...they were corroded terribly to the point of missing threads. Pump is working great so far and it was installed on April 25th

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Working Good I replaced a plastic bodied Sears 1/2 HP pump this pump cast iron Wayne 3/4 HP pump. What a huge difference in volume, pressure, run time, and sound. I ordered this pump online from Home Depot. It was the cheapest price on a pump like this that I could find and I considered many. Don't know if it will last but it is working great for past 2 months. Shipment was in the form of the retail box with no additional protection. It was pretty beat up but there was no damage to the pump. I did not use the pressure switch installed on the pump which will be there for back-up. Instead I used a Square D with low pressure cut-off to protect the pump in case I run out of water for any number of reasons. This will prevent the pump from ruin in case it should run dry.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from like the pump but not the switch The pressure switch went out in less than a year. It stuck in the on position and blew a pipe off. It had also stuck in the off position a couple times before that. There is no low pressure cutoff safety in the switch either, so it made a big mess when it was stuck on and blew my pipe. Seems like a very cheaply made switch. I since replaced the switch with a Square D one that has a low pressure safety cutoff, for about 25 dollars. Other than that, the pump works well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wayne pumps meet and exceed expectations Wayne pumps have served me well for over 15 years of shallow well performance. My last pump (SWS50) never failed even under extreme harsh conditions. I hope my new pump (SWS75) can serve me just as well.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Replacement Quite pump. Mounting bracket was very weak. Had to block up the front of the pump to make it stable
