I was SUPREMELY disappointed by the "Basement Watchdog" system sold by both Home Depot and Lowes for under $150.00 and manufactured by Glenronics. They claim that their unit will pump at a maximum 20' lift. Their pump failed to lift ONLY 9' in my install, EVEN after following explicit instructions from customer service. I returned the "BW" system and then did a little research both online and at two different plumbing supply stores. I am a professional contractor and both plumbing supply stores had units for sale that were comparable to the "Watchdog", but selling for nearly $500.00...and that was my discounted price!! Not saying they were unfair at all, but when I found this Wayne pump online and compared the specs to the supply house units and the (absolute junk) Watchdog, I knew my search was over! As soon as you open the box, you'll note that the construction of this DC pump is comparable to most AC main pumps of this size. The operation is surprisingly quiet and the intuitive, sophisticated electronics will give you peace of mind. The power is great! The only reason I didn't rate it "Excellent" for ease of installation is because that all depends on your own level of comfort/experience with the plumbing aspects; it was very easy for me. I think this is the best pump for the money, Don't waste time and money on the "bargain" brand and risk a wet basement.

I bought the Wayne Sumpminder with both the primary pump and the back-up pump. The battery back-up was my primary concern, but I also had a 30 year old primary pump. I had a 40 minute window to install this as water was pouring into my sump pit. I got all the pipes correctly measured and left one long to cut at the last minute. I was able to install this in less than 30 minutes, giving my cement only 10 or so minutes to dry. It worked flawlessly! The set up for the phone call-out is also easy, although you need a phone line. Plus, it's quiet and it pumps out my full pit twice as fast as my old pump and does it without barely making a sound. All the hardware seems to be very well made and heavy duty. I have zero worries about my sump pump keeping up during a storm - even if the power goes out now too!
