This water smoker is just right for beginners looking to experience the delicious advantages of low and slow cooking with a smoker. Can I use wood chip/chunks with this smoker?

My primary source of heat will be Char. but I want to smoke the flavor of Oak, Apple, or Maple in to my meats by using wood chunks. I noticed that you larger Weber says that it is a wood smoker, I was wondering if this model can handle both

Hello, Thanks for your question! Although it would be possible to make jerky in our Smokey Mountain Cooker, it is best suited for more commonly smoked items, like ribs, roasts, pork shoulders, turkeys, etc. Thanks!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for small cooks I have a full size 24in Weber Smokey Mountain that I love when cooking for a crowd. The trouble is it is often too big when cooking a family meal. The 14inch WSM fits the bill perfectly.

This is a well-made smoker; all the parts fit well and are a good quality. I got this particular model because my nephew cooked smoked salmon in the same smoker for 6 of us and it came out fantastic; cooked but not dried out. The assembly instructions are easy to follow. I did have trouble installing the gasket which permits a meat probe, but I took it to Home Depot and a knowledgeable customer service rep helped me out. That is the only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars. I think this gasket should have been installed by Weber. I didn't know it came with a free cover which I liked.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Product! Smoked a turkey for Thanksgiving and came out perfect. Recommend buying felt sealer for aluminum door on front for a better seal. Also recommend a good electric thermometer to use in supplied side port. Happy smoking!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Impressive and Consistent An exceptional smoker with professional capabilities. Able to smoke a 10 pound pork shoulder on the top rack, enough for 8 adults. Ribs require a little more creative placement for more than 4 adults. Average time for fuel load to last is around 7 hours, temperature stays locked in essentially during the cook. Consider using Kingsford Competition Briquettes, they are more dense, smoke less and last longer than the original type. An in dwelling remote thermometer is a must, each time the lid is removed from a smoke to look at the meat or show friends, 1/2 an hour or more is added to the cook time. If we had known how well food can taste on this device, we would have purchased one earlier! Enjoy!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from WSM rocks the casbah! I love my new WSM! It's easy to set up and quick to get smoking. There is a learning curve if you've never smoked before but the WSM gives you a great head start. The small WSM is good if your feeding 1 to about 10 people. You can fit 2 large racks of ribs at a time. Or about 10-15lbs of brisket or shoulder. Tip: buy a charcoal chimney! It makes your life way easier.

Good for cooking 1 or 2 Boston Butts or a couple of slab of ribs.My meat was moist and the smoke flavor was not too strong. I used charcoal with apple wood chips. I like the digital temp slot on the side also. For the weekend BBQ this is s good choice. Very easy to clean up and comes with a nice cover. The metal is thick holds heat good. Not cheaply made like some of the other brands. Hope this review helps. BBQ-1
