Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by greycap Great clipper for Seniors with arthritis
This hedge clipper's greatest advantage is that someone with arthritis can easily depress the safety levers and operate the tool. Some clippers have the mandated safety switches and buttons positioned in such a way as to be difficult to hold in while attempting to maneuver the tool. Others have such strong resistance in their 'off' springs that it is difficult to keep them depressed. While the Federal government's philosophy seems to be that "If you can't use a tool, you are safe from becoming an accident statistic," this clipper is safe in that you won't become injured in the process trying to manipulate the safety devices in order to operate the tool you purchased to accomplish your tasks.

I actually bought this hedger by mistake--I thought I was buying a regular corded one. I went ahead and tried it out and I loved it. Not being tied down with an electric cord was great and the extra long life battery pack took care of all the trimming I needed to do. The charge lasts a long time; I use it about 30 min on a weekend and a single charge lasts up to 3-weeks! This really is a great hedger and you will be pleased to have the power of a gas trimmer without the weight and mess. This is one mistake I'm glad I made!

Regarding the HTC2200. Overalll, I thought this was a great hedgetrimmer. It handled all that I needed of it. What it lacks is a way to hang it up against the wall with my other tools. If it just had a hole going through the bottom of the handle, below the battery compartment, I would be able to hang it up on a nail...it would be perfect.

I recently purchased this hedge trimmer because all I have had are gas models. I was looking for something a bit more suited to the environment and this model was a fantastic choice. It did a great job on the bushes I needed to trim and still had charge for more. It wasn't that heavy, and I was able to "trim" a lot of time off getting my outside work finished. The only problem I encountered...I wasn't used to the length of the blades and kept running into the downspout to my gutters.

I'm not a big fan of battery powered outside tools. They usually lack power and run time. I've always used corded hedge trimmers for my three hedge bushes. Trouble is the corded tools require dragging the electrical cord around with you and always worrying about cutting the cord (which I've done numerous times). I bought a cordless 20 volt lithium B&D trimmer for my son and liked it so much I bought this 18volt ni-cad trimmer for myself. It is a very competant tool. Plenty of power and grab and go convenience. Not sure about the battery life cause I'll only use it for short period trims while still using the corded tool for longer duration jobs.
AND it's advertised as 22" but actually measures 24" which makes it that much better for me because I have several long reach areas of hedge.
You have to always keep both hands on the trimmer for it to operate which was a little annoying but a well thought out safety feature.

This was a great little item for $58. You can't find one for that cheap that comes with battery and charger. The battery lasted about an hour off and on. It takes about 8 hours to recharge the battery from a dead stop. I'd recommend this to anyone that doesn't have too many things to trim. It's pretty strong also. It cut through some bradford pear sprouts easily.

I purchased this trimmer because I have a tendency to end up cutting the cord to my electric trimmer. I was not sure if I would get enough charge from the cordless trimmer but to my surprise it cut all I needed to trim and was even more efficient than my electric trimmer.

I have only used this trimmer a few times, but have yet to run the battery down. Trimming shrubs and even smaller low hanging branches of trees is like a hot knife going through butter. I am VERY pleased with my purchase and love that I don't have to drag out an extension cord to use this. If you have a need, go out and buy one!
