How is this comparable to a 6ft stepladder? Will I be able to clean my gutters using this ladder? It doesn't seem that I would be able to reach them

Asked by: dalfino
Assuming you're 6 ft tall, with the platform being 4 ft off the ground your reach is about 10 ft. If you use a 6 ft stepladder, your safe reaching distance, assuming you're not on the top step, is about 6 ft also, so if you're gutters are 10 ft up you'll be fine

10 ft. Reach Fiberglass Podium Ladder with 300 lb. Load Capacity Type IA Duty Rating (Comparable to 6 ft. Stepladder) is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 315.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this Ladder Got this ladder to be able to trim tall trees in the backyard (note the Ficus in the background of the attached pic). It does that and more. No way would I have been able to put up the plywood on the windows in the pic without the podium aspect of this ladder. As for the trees, I feel much safer on this ladder with the podium and the rail. Having a fear of heights, I consider getting up high on most ladders an E-ticket ride. No so on this one. The only caveat I have is that this ladder is a bit awkward to move around owing to its weight. Bottom line is that I highly recommend this ladder.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very stable and safe Easier to work on than my standard 12' ladder and more stable. When erected it measures 12' 6" from the floor to its top handrail. So if your ceiling is shorter than this you will not be able to set it up. The platform you stand on is 9' 7" off of the ground so since I am 6' tall that puts my head 15' 7" off of the floor. The stand is also handy as a work area or for holding tools on ceilings below 16' but above 12' 6". Also you should note that base of the ladder occupies some significant amount of space 38" x 6' 9".

Just what I need to reach those high areas and feel the safety of the platform work area. Just wish it were easier to use your Veterans discount when ordering online or when its delivered to the store. They wouldn't allow it. But the ladder is great can't miss.

After reading many reviews from building contractors, I decided this was the ladder for me. I'm not in a business, but rather a homeowner who was looking for a ladder for a few specific tasks. The first task was hanging our holiday lights on the dock. Because of the platform and the safety bar that I could use to support myself as I reached from side to side I was able to get the job done quicker, safer, and more comfortably, and the stability of standing on a platform relieved some of the stress of looking down into the river - I felt safer. Next task, cleaning the sides of the house, which since it's only one story should work very well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Safety Asset First and foremost, not everyone is going to be physically capable of moving and/or maneuvering this beast of a ladder around. It is a moderately unwieldy beast not well suited for those of minimal stature and here is why. The ladder has an 80.5" wide base, weighs 58lbs (seems heavier) and the best way for one person to move it is from underneath; envision performing an overhead press with one hand on a step and the other on a stabilizing rung; all the while pressing overhead, balancing, and walking. As for using the ladder, in a word... Awesome! It is a brilliant idea long overdue; especially when you're standing on the top platform, which is 10' in the air. The platform allows 360^ use; however, that is not normally practical since most work surfaces aren't going to fit that description. It is worth saying, standing on the platform is far superior to standing on a rung and turning sideways and it's fatigue free standing. The extended guard safety rail provides additional handhold. I'm 6' 2" / 190lbs and the safety rail fits me nicely. It is worth mentioning that standing on a ladder this tall, expect slight movement which would be expected with a ladder of this height, even when it's firmly place on solid concrete. I highly recommend this ladder if you need to access tall structures as I do to access the flat roof portion of my home; it makes climbing over the parapet wall onto the flat roof a cinch. It is far better than standing on the top step of a 10' step ladder to climb onto the roof! Good Luck!
