Answer:
I thought it was too dim with the 40W bulbs, so I replaced with two halogens instead. Much brighter. Not sure about LEDs, as some aren't supposed to be used in enclosed fixtures.

By installing a combination of light bulbs that exceeds 190 watts or if an electrical surge causes the wattage to exceed 190 watts, the light fixture will either dim the lights to 190 watts or will automatically turn off.
To restore the light levels, make sure the total wattage of the light bulbs does not exceed 190 watts.

Answer:
This ceiling fan uses a 40 watt maximum candelabra base light bulb. We recommend a G16 1/2 light bulb and these are included with the ceiling fan. To change the light bulbs, you need to align protrusions from the light kit and lift the glass up allowing the protrusions to engage the indentations on the glass, and twist the glass clockwise to lock into place. The instructions are listed in our Instruction Read More

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great combo for a small room Works very well as a light and fan in a small room. Compact design doesn't clutter the ceiling or overwhelm the room. August 16, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by 42 inch brushed nickel ceiling fan This fan was purchased to replace a ceiling fan in the kitchen. My husband installed this fan and stated it was relatively easy (he has replaced 2 other ceiling fans in our house before). The instructions were simple to follow. Everything was clearly marked. This fan replaced a ceiling fan that had "trumpet" lights; this fan does not produce as much light as the trumpet lights, but the amount of light it produces is decent. The fan moves air very well. Shipping was fast and the product arrived well packaged. May 26, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nice Upgrade I've installed two of these as replacements of older fans. Installation was straightforward and an easy one person job. The wires for the fan are long enough to rest it on a table while wiring to a standard 7' ceiling. There is also a bracket that holds the weight of the fan while you secure it. While I haven't run the fans other than to test, they are quiet and move a lot of air, even on low. I've installed one over our kitchen island, and it provides plenty of task light, while also illuminating the room. The bulbs are an unusual size, but from a quick look online, they can be replaced with equivalent LEDs. March 30, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great purchase Looks great, exactly what we were looking for. Easy to install. June 7, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great purchase for the $ Finally fans in my kids rooms. Now they are happy. Easy to install and perfect size for their 12 by 12 rooms! May 17, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Noisy! These fans have a nice, modern look, and at $80, I thought they were a good deal. But they are noisier than the old fans they replaced. I almost had one installed in the bedroom, but I went with a Harbor Breeze there instead, which I can barely hear. The Westinghouse fans really make a racket! May 17, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Very nice fan Purchased fan for a small/medium sized bedroom and it is the perfect size for such room/s. Would probably be too small for any room larger than approx. 12'x12'. That being said, I was looking for a more modern style (which in lower priced range, is next to impossible) and the finish and blade color options (Dark & light wood look), are very attractive. Time will only tell as to the durability, but fan seems well made and ease of install was well above average, as I have installed many different fans in many different settings. Needed no blade balancing upon install and is relatively quiet. Moves air well and pull chains are nicely designed and solid for the price. Amount of light (with factory provided bulbs) is a little low, but sufficient for small to mid sized room. March 24, 2015
