Product Overview

This Whynter Dual Zone Portable Fridge / Freezer offers premium quality and innovative design to your frozen/ refrigerated needs. With two separately controlled temperature zones, you can set either zone as a freezer and the other as a refrigerator or at any temperature for your specific requirements. All you need is either a standard household 110-Volt outlet or a 12-Volt power source, like an automotive battery. The internal LED lights also allow for easier, more convenient access in low-light conditions. Whether on a day trip or major expedition, you can easily keep your food and beverages chilled, or frozen with this benchtop freezer. The Whynter portable freezers should not to be confused with less effective 12-Volt novelty and beverage type "coolers", the Whynter portable freezer fridge is a true freezer/refrigerator which cools between -8°F to 50°F. Answer:
The unit doesn't have a battery of its own. You will need to provide your own 12 volt battery for power. So it's up to you how long it will last by how many battery's and how large they .

Rated 4.7 out of 5 by 15 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by All Okay so far Too soon to rate unit. Looks good and works. Will have to see how it responds to trails. August 16, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Two weeks in and good Picked up the unit about two weeks ago, dropped it into my small truck camper and have been running on solar and land lines solid since then. Seems to work well. I think it could use some additional insulation to make it more efficient but if does a nice job. Especially like the fact that the two compartments can be run at separate temps and that it drops strait to AC when you plug into the land line. If the compressor lasts it's a steal compared to Engels. I have been told that there is really only one compressor manufacturer for all of these types of coolers but no idea if it is true. Great not to have melting ice to deal with any longer. June 14, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by works great It's holding up just fine on the top bunk going down the road. I keep it plugged into the converter with the DC plugged in as a backup when making coffee. It keeps my ice cream frozen and the rest of the food cold unlike the refrigerator installed on the truck. August 2, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent product Holds enough food for several weeks for my Daughter while She is out on the road in Her tractor trailer February 23, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nice design for refrigerator and freezer Easy to operate and cools to set temps in less than an hour, when empty. Not sure about energy efficiency until we are able to use it in 12 volt battery mode. Seems to run quietly. January 12, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Does what is advertised. Great! This machine works great. Dual compartments are super handy. I keep mine at 9 and 39 degrees. I also bought the infrared-reflector lined cover, which came in the advertised grey color and is put together quite well. If you use an extension cord for the 12VDC outlet in your car or RV, be sure it's heavy duty. A lightweight extension will show enough voltage on the cooler's display, but may not support the initial surge current that the compressor requires to start up. This has happened in my Honda CR-V, which has a convenient rear 12V outlet, but the wiring that feeds it is not heavy gauge. Solution? Use a heavier extension, or start the car to boost voltage to the fridge, or fire up the fridge on AC power. My experience is that once the unit has cooled down, it's perfectly happy running off a battery, even with the lightweight wiring in the CR-V. For car camping, this unit is excellent. Yes, an Engel is even more energy efficient, but as always, you pay... To me, this unit occupies a sweet spot in the marketplace. Does what people need, affordable (compared to RV refrigerators) and noticeably less to buy than the Swiss unit. As others have said, hold onto your packaging, even if it means breaking down the boxes and hiding it all somewhere. Whynter pays freight both ways for 60 days if anything fails, and after that, you don't want to pay a crating charge if you have to ship it. Mine is working flawlessly after a few weeks, so hopefully I won't have to ship it - ever. January 19, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Very good product The D.C power cord is only 4' long. makes it difficult to power in a pickup truck unless you run additional wiring from the battery to the back of the truck with the DC adapter. December 8, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by outstanding Dual zones invaluable. Frozen food stays that way w power reduced/off over nite and longer. Regardless of air temp, temp settings reached within 30min or less. Inside light nice. December 12, 2015
