I've tried similar, small, roller handles and covers, and have found them wanting, but, the Wooster Pro 12" long roller handle was easy to hold, use, and clean. The Wooster 4" cover took a little effort to go onto the roller, and needed quite an effort to remove, but, I'd rather have it that way, than have it come off in mid-stroke, as I've had with previous rollers and covers. The handle's rubber and plastic grip dovetail into each other (I tried photographing it, but, the black and blue colors aren't visually clear enough). I'm not clear on the intent, but, it seems to work fine, and I was very comfortable using it, even at such an awkward stance. The photo of the ceiling shows where drywall had been replaced and primed (the paint stirrer attached to the wall was both a visual reference point for this review and to prevent me from getting too close to the wall). I needed only about 2 ozs of paint to cover the approx 1' ft sq area, because the covers absorbed a great deal of paint without spilling. The only "problem" I had was that it was difficult to move the roller when I dipped it in the paint (i.e., it was stiff), but, rolled nicely on the bumps in the paint tray. It didn't let a single drop come off the covers, except where I needed it, of course! The result photo shows only the first coat. The second coat is even better, but, I thought it best to show the impressive results of the first coat. Clean-up took a while, because the cover held a lot of leftover paint, which was unexpected and somewhat wasteful, but, I didn't need a lot, and am satisfied with the result. The cover dried nicely, and, though the nap wasn't as fluffy as it was when new, I felt no difference in consistency or see any difference in the result, when I applied the second coat. It felt solid and sturdy in my hand, yet I never felt any weight, per se. As such, I heartily recommend both the roller and cover!

This is a good, small roller. It's lightweight yet sturdy, and the "fluff" of the rollers is just the right amount to hold the paint but without making it either drippy or causing a pattern when used. It's good for areas such as above a doorway or other spots where a regular sized roller is too big to make sense but you still want to maintain that rolled look (rather than using a brush). I also found it handy for going over area where I cut in with a brush next to an area that was rolled...to sort of "connect" the two more seamlessly so you don't notice a difference in the "cut in with a brush" spots. A good product.

Wooster Pro 12 in. Mini Roller Cage Frame
A great roller. I used it when I painted the walls of my parents bathroom. The roller rolls easy. I didn’t have any trouble with it getting clogged or sticking. I also didn’t have trouble with the roller axle filling with paint and then dripping out. I was quite pleased. The paint went on smoothly. The paint roller rolls smoothly. It doesn’t gallop like other paint rollers. Bathrooms are a tight area to paint. This size roller was perfect for trim, moldings, and behind various objects. When I was done it cleaned up nicely. I will definitely be using it again for my next paint job.

I recently had an opportunity to use this roller cage during a complete interior painting of my house, including baseboards and trim to apply a Behr latex satin sheen.
It proved to be a perfect size for many narrow wall areas (4-1/2” roller), especially for deep window wells and baseboards (see pictures). The frame was comfortable to hold and use, cleaned easily and rolled very smoothly and evenly, even when applying a thicker paint material that could have a tendency to make the roller stick or slip. It functioned very well. It is made to fit the Wooster brand of roller cover, which it holds in place without sliding off, but it is equally easy to push the roller on, and pull it off. The packaging states it is adjustable to fit a 6-1/2” roller, but I did not try this.
I don’t know if this roller will fit other roller cover brands, but the Wooster brand cover is very good, gives even application and is long lasting.
I recommend this product.

This roller will work with a 4 ½ or 6 ½ inch roller cover, so it is really useful for doing small areas or getting into spaces where you can’t get a full size roller. It feels good in the hand and seems to be well made.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Mikey95 Great roller cage for small work or tight spaces
Solid product that can handle two sizes of roller covers. Central metal rod (shank) has no flex and it's securely attached to handle. The handle has a no slip coating on two opposing sides and the usual threaded base for attaching extension poles. The cage spins freely on the frame with minimal slop. It was a bit of a challenge sliding roller covers on/off the cage, it was a tight fit. Looks and feels like a high quality tool.
