We love our new pergola, but it was not without issues. The photo implies a nice brown color, but when we received it, it was a raw wood with very little color. Therefore I bought two gallons of chocolate, transparent Behr stain to give it some color, match our deck and provide some protection from the elements. We were also missing one of the trellis cross pieces and had to wait five days to get this part.
After two days of staining it took another two days for assembly. The instructions are easy to follow, but there are many, many screws! Be sure you have a power screw driver!

Truly a two man job. My son and I completed the project in less than 8 hours. Directions were a little vague but once we laid all the pieces out it made easy assembly. Happy wife Happy Life!!. Some of the holes didn't line up perfectly and had to be re-drilled. Looks great in the backyard!

Took a bit to assemble. Some of the screw holes got in the way of the opposing screw holes on one corner. Was able to fix with not alot of hassle. Everything needs to be put together, even the X's on the pillars. However it is well worth it!!!!!! Beautiful. I put silk ivy vines on the posts with silk flowers for effect. Up for a few weeks and have gotten many compliments on it.
Oh, and I hung soft light, solar lights on the arches!! Perfect.

Love this pergola. Everything was in the box plus extra of all the screws and all the wood was cut and drilled correctly. Directions were easy to follow and well laid out. My wife and I assembled this in just a few evenings after work. We did stain every part before assembling just for extra protection. We took someone's advice that I read in a review about buying the Bamboo fencing from Home Depot for the top and that worked out great. I have not yet fastened down to the concrete patio but I plan to. At 400 lbs in a very well protected backyard weather wise I don't believe it's going any where. Overall I am very pleased with the quality and the looks.

The Pergola was a kit that I put together. I put the base together myself, but did need help with putting together the top pieces. I did notice that some of the holes didn't line up so I had to drill some of the screws into the wood. I ended up using every screw that came in the kit but still needed about 6 more 3" screws. Luckily, I had a few deck screws that were in the garage.
Overall, the directions aren't too difficult to follow, the kit came with everything I needed and the wood looks good. After assembling the Pergola, I realized I probably could have built a cheaper one with less wood. I also bought the bamboo fencing that home depot sells that is 6' tall and 16' long put two of them on the top
There are only two negatives I found. 1) The Pegola is really a 10 X 10. The pieces that hang over are what they consider a 12 X 12. 2) the directions on where to put the top pieces left you up to guessing. I figured out that the top boards should be about a foot apart to make it look right.

This is an absolutely great pergola for the price! It looks amazing, and is easy to put together by just one person. The lumber is not perfect though, and some pieces are badly curved, but it is not really noticeable when it all is put together. Many pre-drilled holes are somewhat offset of the centre of cross pieces, but I did not have to drill new ones. All the plinth blocks are longer by about a 1/4 of an inch though. There was plenty of spare screws. Instructions are not so great, and one or two pictures are rather confusing (or possibly wrong). I built the base and laid the pavers before ordering the pergola using the dimensions that I found in the online assembly instructions. It all lined up perfectly and the finished product is absolutely stunning. Completely satisfied.
