Rated 4 out of 5Â by TroyinNH Good product, BUT.........
I had bought a 5 gal can of this stain at my local Home Depot, but my project got put on hold for a few months. After starting it, I realized I needed one more can. I returned to the HD, only to be informed by the clerk they had stopped carrying it. I came home to look for where I COULD buy it, and found it on HD site as online only. I bought it, had it shipped to store, only to discover that the color mix chart for Flood had been purged from their system. Luckily they could mix it manually with the info from the top of my old can.... If you are going to CARRY something, even just online, at least continue to SUPPORT it at your retail stores.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by OldGuyMaine Excellent transparent stain for a sea exposed dock.
Application was easy on a very "tired out" dock. Just a bit of sanding. Some years of "begnign neglect" in a salt, snow, wind, environment did its damage. It now looks terrific, with the original grain showing it natural attractiveness. And, that was with but one-coat. I'm sorry to hear that the product is being phased out - but can hope for a "change of heart". We'll see how long it lasts.

Used on a ruff cedar pergolas, started out using a brush was a little unhappy because I couldn't keep it from running so I rented an airless sprayer and finished entire project in under 2 hours most of it with 2 coats. Turned out beautifully.

I finally got around to applying this product to my deck. Now that it's finished, it looks great!!! Hosted a poker game and my buddies said "I see you got a new deck". I responded, "Yes, about 17 years ago".
However, I yearn for the days of high VOC stains. This product consists of linseed oil in a water-based emulsion...among other ingredients. If you have previously sealed your deck, this stain/sealer just laughs at you as you attempt to apply a water-based finish to a deck already possessing a certain level of water repellency. Yes. I did power wash it first after giving it a treatment of "Wet and Forget" as well.
Ultimately, it does spread and get absorbed, as it still has certain level of VOC (Stoddard solvent). Gone are the stains with high VOCs where you could merely touch the brush to the wood and "wham" done! The good news is that you use far less stain. I recall buying a 5 gallon drum of stain/sealer and having very little left over. I was able to do my entire deck, including one story stairs, with just two gallons. Thanks probably to the EPA, water based stains are now the norm for just about all stain products. As I said earlier, the end results are just as good as before. The deck has a deep rich oil finish thanks to the linseed oil and iron oxide pigment. It also lets the natural grain of the wood show through too. The sale price makes buying this a "no brainer". I just bought a quart of solid stain for another project, made by another brand-name company, and paid the same price.

Initially I thought Natural color was clear, the result is a red/orange color. Looks good. i was able to refurb an old roof to look new. Coverage was less than stated as the roof was in bad repair. Caution note: due to the pitch of a cedar roof, applied product will make the roof slippery.
