Prestige 23.6 in. 11.7 cu. ft. Frost Free Bottom Freezer Refrigerator in Stainless Steel

Unique Appliances is a Canadian company known for their retro-styled appliances. This product is more modern than retro, which I personally prefer. Stainless front is beautiful, sides are painted a complementary gloss gray. This is an upgrade for our basement "overflow" fridge. Very low energy draw - rated current draw is only 1.3 amps. Digital display shows the setpoint temperature for either the refrigerator or bottom freezer. I find the control panel a bit hard to read - a bit more contrast in the black lettering and gray background would make it easier to read. The freezer drawers have pros and cons. I'd probably prefer a single wire shelf vs. the three plastic drawers. Think I could pack more in there with a drawer-less design. Overall a great updgrade and would look awesome in a modernized small kitchen or your basement bar. Take note when ordering: "This item does not qualify for Major Appliance Delivery and Haul Away or Installation Services." A local delivery company will drop this off in your driveway. You will need a sturdy helper and hand-truck to move it into your house and get it unpacked.

This is a very space saving refrigerator. It is perfect for a small home like a loft or starter home and especially for a galley kitchen. Since it doesn't have protruding handles it makes getting by and opening the doors easier than something larger with big handles. It's not too heavy and relatively easy to move around and turn. Easy to install and unpack .

This is the quietest refrigerator that I have ever owned. I set it up in the dining room before we made the swap, and I don’t think I ever heard a peep out of it even as it initially cooled down. I put in a temperature gauge, and it was down to 36 degrees in less than 4 hours. The freezer also cooled down to zero degrees in the same time frame. We have been looking to replace one of our larger backup refrigerators and when we saw the wine rack, we knew that one was for us. We moved the lower rack up just below the wine rack and so this was the perfect size for my wife’s tortilla’s. We filled up the fridge and still had room, even though we were moving items over from a larger fridge. We liked the flexibility of the racks in the fridge and in the doors as well. The 3 drawers in the freezer helped us divide up the frozen items a lot easier than having one big open area that you must stuff things in. The only thing that was not good was the super dim light in the fridge, it is so low that if you open the fridge in the dark you will not be able to see inside very well or at all for the lower levels. We love the energy saving feature, the easy controls at the top and the stainless steel makes it easy to wipe down and keep clean.

I ordered the Unique Prestige 23.6 in. 12 cu. ft. Frost Free Bottom Freezer Refrigerator to use as an “overflow” refrigerator and freezer. My requirements were that it be energy efficient, have both a refrigerator and freezer sections and that is be narrow enough to fit into my garage without having to redesign my storage layout. I could not have custom designed the refrigerator to meet my needs better! The volume is a little more than half of a full-size unit. The width is a mere 23.4”, allowing me to place it against the only unused span of wall space available. The unit arrived on time and the packaging was superb; not a scratch or dent to be found. De-boxing was easy using a box cutter to drop the cardboard box from each side and separate the top revealing the well-designed Styrofoam protecting the unit. Once the box and Styrofoam were removed moving the refrigerator was a one-man job. There are rollers on the rear that work when the unit is tilted aft. It’s reduced size and weight, as well as the tape and plastic wrap that kept the doors securely closed and the interior shelves and doors pinned down, made moving it stress free. Leveling it was easy using the adjustable feet until I went too far extending one too far, unscrewing the foot from the mount. Since the unit was being installed in a well-sloped garage floor, there was a significant difference in the feet adjustment from side to side. In retrospect, I should have started by screwing in the feet all the way on the high side of the floor, then screwed out the feet on the low side until level. The door’s handles are built in and ergonometric. They eliminate snagging a protruding handle and will never have to be tightened. Opening and closing is easy without feeling flimsy. The shelves in the refrigerator are well designed, are removable, and have easily cleaned glass surfaces. They have limited adjustability with 5 fixed rack ledges for the four shelves, one of which is a metal wine rack. There is a crisper drawer on the bottom which, like the drawers in the freezer, it is not as solid as you might find in a premium refrigerator, but is sturdy enough. The compartments on the door include two (top and bottom) that run the span of the door and two in the middle that only span half the door and can attach to slots built into the door at two levels. This allows the compartments to be at the same level (of two) or at different levels to accommodate different height items. The controls are straight forward and have a feature for quick freeze and quick cool. If the unit is to be used in a vacation home or garage for overflow this allows the unit to be shut down when not in use and then cooled down within a short time when put into use. The unit cooled down much quicker than I expected. We are looking forward to years of use with this unit and to the economic benefits of being able to buy in bulk when we find food on sale. When we have family or friends stay over for extended times we can stock up and spend less time running to the grocery store and more time enjoying their company.

The Unique Prestige 23.6 inch wide 12 cubic foot refrigerator/ freezer is just the right size for my needs. I wanted a spare refrigerator in our house, as even our large refrigerator is often crowded. We have an upright freezer in the basement, which is too packed for optimal air circulation. I had a smaller-than-standard size area available for that extra refrigerator, and then found this. It has a stylish cabinet with a stainless steel front and coordinated gray sides. There are 3 slide out drawers in the bottom freezer, and configurable glass shelves in the refrigerator section. There are also 4 bins on the door. The doors close nicely with a solid, secure seal. There is a digital temperature control and display, and also an open door alarm. It is Energy Star rated as well. It was very well packaged and protected for shipping.
