Answer This Question
A: I would not recommend them for siding. They work great for small projects, but I don't believe they would hold up well to a big project that is constantly in the weather.

A: Thatʻs the board I used for my doors. Make sure you stain and waterproof
by|Mar 3, 2022
A: Not for exterior use.
by|Mar 2, 2022
A: You can, but you'd be better of with finish type boards. This type of board is still green and will shrink, especially when exposed to weather. I used it on a fence; the boards were installed with no gap and after 7 months, some gaps in between the boards are close to 3/4". Not all, but anywhere from 1/8"-3/4". So expect shrinkage, which is why you'd be better off with finish type boards.

A: A very qualified "yes".
You will need to glue them up edge to edge, and probably secure the resulting door with crossing staves.....usually at 45 degree angles

by|Sep 13, 2020
A: Yes and no! It's not treated for outdoor use; however, if you want to seal the wood with a dealer and paint or stain it, it would probably be feasible to use. You would probably also have biannual maintenance on it, depending on the quality of products you use on it.

A: I think it would work fine. I did mine with shiplap.

A: That depends on what your ceiling framing is. However, this is lighter than drywall. So, if your ceiling could have drywall, this would probably work. I hope this helps!

Q:What is the safe load for this type of board?
by|Apr 7, 2018

Answer This Question
A: Safe load should not press more than 100 lbs. I would recommend a board being stepped on as 5/8" or 3/4" thickness, and double treaded with 2 - 4"(w), and 5/8"(thickness).

A: When the entire board is used in a flat configuration I would not exceed 25 pounds. When the board it put vertically with the "8 inch" side being up and down, the board can withstand 75 pounds.

A: Apply weight on wood to keep from bending
by|Sep 27, 2020
A: This is an appearance board and not intended for anything structural or load bearing. We would not recommend anything more than 15- 20lbs max.
Use a 5/4 or 2 inch board for structural / load bearing projects after checking with a licensed contractor first.
