Answer This Question

A:  I’m not sure what piece of wood you are referring to but in most scenarios, no. The wood generally needs to be replaced with wood. I would hire a professional if you are unsure

A:  This is how I used these blocks. The garage wall was incorrectly built with the wooden lower plate (two 2 by 4 studs) lying rigth on the concrete ground slab. This plates have got completely rotten away in 50 years, the load-carrying studs got damaged in the lower part, and black mold developed in the original gypsum boars used for external sheathing. I lifted the wall with jacks, cut the lower parts of old studs, set up and mortized in place these concret blocks, installed new studs and lowered the wall back.

A:  In theory yes but I would use the solid blocks the store sells, not these with the two hollow openings as they will break over time

Q:What are the dimensions of the openings?

      Answer This Question

A:  It varies because of how they are made but generally they are 1” x 6”

      by|Dec 24, 2019

A:  Can't be 6 wide. If the length is 16 and it has [3] similar dimensioned holes with material between the holes - the math does not work. I'd say more like 1 x 4 estimated just going off the photo.

          Answer This Question

A:  Thank you for your question. This can possibly be done. Depends on the area of the country, might need to have the material reinforced, or go against a back-up product. we would suggest that the customer reach out to a couple of mason contractors and get their opinion.

          by|Dec 7, 2018

A:  Sure. These are a substitute for 2x4 stud walls, you would just need a solid footing to lay them on

            by|Nov 12, 2019

A:  Thanks for your question. The blocks are not fire rated or made to withstand high temperatures. Fire brick would be recommended for these high temperatures.
