To completely cover this, it's best to apply the Solid Color Concrete Stain once the surface has been primed using the Concrete Bonding Primer No. 880. Have a great day! - Randy

To give the stain a more uniform look, I'd recommend applying the stain with a pump sprayer and then rolling back over the area with a lightly saturated 3-8" nap roller. A:  Hi Randy, thanks for the question. If the mantle already has a coating, I wouldn't recommend using the Semi-Transparent Decorative Concrete Stain. The semi-transparent stain should only be used on uncoated surfaces. One suggestion is to use our Solid-Color Concrete Stain instead.
