A:  Hi Gary, thank you for your question. Although our Semi-Transparent Wood Finish is an excellent choice for log cabins, it provides a flat sheen only and is not available in a semi-gloss. Have a great day! - Randy

Q:What's the difference between solid and semi transparent want cedar color but also want natural wood grain to show
          by|May 23, 2024
          1 Answer
          Answer This Question

A:  Hi Dennisg, thank you for your question. Our Semi-Transparent Waterproofing Stain & Sealer will provide a finish that allows you to maintain the look of the natural wood grain. Whereas, our Solid Color Waterproofing Wood Stain will provide an opaque finish that will cover the wood grain. In this case, it sounds like the Semi-Transparent Stain will suit your project best, as you'd still like to be able to see the wood grain. Have a great day! -Lina

Q:I currently have #ST-330 Redwood Semi-Transparent Waterproofing Exterior Wood Stain and Sealer on my deck, and it is time for another coat because it's been a few years and it's getting worn in spots. Can I use #ST-122 redwood semi-transparent over it?
            by|May 23, 2024
            1 Answer
            Answer This Question

A:  Hi Summer, thank you for your question. Our Semi-Transparent Stain can be reapplied over the worn surface so long as it is porous. To test the porosity, I recommend sprinkling water over various sections of the surface. If the water is absorbed, it is porous enough to apply another coat once the surface is cleaned and dry. If the water sits on the surface for a couple of moments, the wood is still sealed, and the stain will need to be removed or allowed to continue wearing before it can be recoated. As you're thinking of using a different color, I recommend applying the stain to a small inconspicuous area to test the color. Have a great day! -Lina

Q:Can this be used on formica countertops?

              Answer This Question

A:  Hi Katkat, thank you for your question. As it turns out, we do not recommend applying our Semi-Transparent Waterproofing Stain & Sealer on Formica. I'd also like to mention that our products are not designed to be used on surfaces that will come in contact with food or the mouth. Additionally, water exposure, food stains, cleaning, hot pans, etc. will lead to reduced durability of the paint and can cause it to fail. In this case, I recommend reaching out to your local Home Depot for more information about a food-safe coating that will work for your Formica counterrop project. Have a great day! -Lina
