Q:How can you transport bikes with this carrier
by|Jun 6, 2021

Answer This Question
A: It’s not built to carry bikes. It’s probably possible but not safe and I would not recommend. You would need to purchase a bike carrier. It’s great for carrying suitcase, boxes, trash, grass clippings and leaf bags, etc.

Q:Can you reverse the folding mechanism so it will fold down instead of up and if so will it still hold up to 500 lbs? Folding down would enable access to rear swing doors of the van without having to remove the carrier or contents which is why I am asking. Thanks.

A: Not unless you have 2 1/2 to 3 foot clearance. The folding mechanism is welded to the shank that goes into the hitch. Flipping that would cause the gooseneck to bend down instead of up and the carrier is already 2 foot wide. Add into account any drop from the weight of the load and bounce of springs.
If you don't have anything loaded, your doors will open easily, just pull the carrier pin and drop basket flat. If loaded, then plan the load for a bit of extra room. This does sit out a ways from the vehicle so you can get stuff in/out, just can't swing the doors fully with load or folded up.

carrier folded down.

A: Yes. The pick up tailgate will not contact the carrier if it’s down. If the carrier is up the tailgate will make contact.
Q:Does this come with a hitch pin, or does the pin need to be purchased separately?

Answer This Question
A: A hitch pin is not included. If you intend to park and leave unattended I would suggest a locking pin if you want to keep the carrier.

A: It needs a locking hitch pin and I would recommend two. One for receiver and one to replace the hitch pin at the folding lock to give more theft protection

Q:can a bike rack be mounted off the back of this carrier?
by|Jun 30, 2020

Answer This Question
A: I do not think it is designed to do that since it is already very long as a tail. But you can drill a lock hole and mount a bike rack for sure. You will be better off with a top rack instead.

A: not with a 2" hitch mount, maybe with a smaller one
