A:  25 1/4” in height and fits well sitting on a couch or chair. The surface is smooth and just enough area for a dinner plate, beverage, napkin and utensils plus more. You’ll be happy with the sturdiness and I have dark furniture that really matches nicely. It helps my home be more comfortable as well as have a couple family over that can sit and eat separately since the pandemic hit town. It’s nice to keep distance and still be comfortable together. A:  Liquid stains, yeah, a bit. But as long as you wipe it away fast or use coasters you're good to go. It does hold TV tray dinners or plates of food to eat as you watch TV or use your laptop. Very sturdy. %-)

A:  If it is your intention to preserve the quality and appearance of your purchase, it would be wise to use coasters. If you happen to have spills it would be advantageous to wipe with a clean, damp, cloth immediately.
