Q:What kind of lubrication is needed for the blade?
by|Oct 14, 2019

Answer This Question
A: I use engine assembly lubricant. It has a much thicker viscosity, and it doesn't drip or fling off the blades when the unit is in operation. It comes in a 4 ounce squeeze bottle. You can buy it at most any chain automotive store. (Permatex and Lucas Oil make good one's). It also stays put and prevents any rust from forming, if you cut a lot of juicy green branches.

A: I use 30w motor oil
by|Dec 10, 2019
A: You can use 3 in 1 oil or SAE20 engine oil to lubricate the blades, or any engine oil will do the job just fine. Give them an oiling every 30 minutes of use, before, and after use. you can use a machine oil applicator, but a paint brush or oil covered rag would do the job too.

Q:Can you attach the HC-2020 to a shoulder strap for additional support?

Answer This Question
A: I do not see any shoulder strap addition for this unit however it is light and easy to use. I am guessing it would be to dangerous to add one to this unit because the blades on it are very sharp

A: I do not know.. To me, that would create a safety issue.

A: The max cutting diameter is as follows. Soft materials is 1 inch, Woody Material is 1/2 inch, now I can tell you that it will cut a bit more than an inch but it takes a bit to cut through, but at one inch it cuts right on through like butter.

A: The owners manual states that it will cut through 1 inch. It will if the rpm’s are high when the branch is approached and it is softer wood. After killing several heavy duty electric trimmers the Echo does much better than any of the electric models I have had.

Q:is it possible to buy new blades or sharpen them?
by|Mar 20, 2019

Answer This Question
A: Yes on purchasing new blade, not sure about the sharpening, but I would guess that if you took it to a lawn equipment store they could sharpen the blades
by|Mar 26, 2019
A: Yes you can buy new blades as well as sharpen the existing ones (much less costly). You do not have to remove the blades to sharpen and all you need is a small fine to medium metal file.
