A:  If setting on a reasonably level, solid surface, then you do not need to attach it to a structure. While lightweight for something so large, it still take a fair amount of effort to move it. Mine is very stable.

A:  You get to pick what side the hand rail is mounted on or not install it at all. Very easy to assemble and adjust.

A:  I'm a legally handicapped septuagenarian and I was able to assemble these although it took me a while.

A:  This can be put together by anyone that can use any type of tools like a 9/16 wrench or a screw driver. No need to pay anyone. Best of luck.
